GaZ Posted 30 March 2005 Posted 30 March 2005 The kop was heaving at about 2'oclock and the chants could be heard across the town centre The gangs from Braunstone,Monsell,Saff,Northfields etc who all had their own place in Pen 2 and baited each other and the away fans through the whole of the afternoon. Going into Pen 1 ,and going crazy when Leicester Scored, only to get chucked out or punched out... Getting crushed on the crash barriers as the crowd surged forwards. The dodgy grub served at the food bars at the back of the kop The little fat steward in the silly yellow coat.... lmao The clatter of coins on the wire mesh above the railings that seperated Pen 1 and 2. The fat drunk geezer who couldnt be bothered to use the gents - always had one of those behind my bird... "hey - that bloke just Pi**ed up my back, what you gonna do bout it? " me says "nothin" The scraps in walnut st and burnmoor st - glad i didnt live there .. Being chased around welford Rd park , by alsations , chased thro the underpass by alsations , chased up new walk by alsations .... all draggin a copper behind em The emergence of "the baby Squad" , - "flickheads" we called em in theyre nice clobber and pod shoes .. The Pineapple - they served anyone in there ...even 16 year old skinheads .. St margrets bus station .... of ffs .. off topic maybe , but i had a few beers and was thinking back .. not knockin anyone either, just thinkin those were the days my freind we thought they'd never end ...,.blah blah How wrong eh ... its all sit down and be quiet these days ... sad bloke signin off .... no its not about being a hooligan , just the way i like to remember it

Scarby Posted 30 March 2005 Posted 30 March 2005 in the latter years i remember the stewart with the dreadlocks...and the chant would go 'who let the dogs out'
foxesfan69 Posted 30 March 2005 Posted 30 March 2005 God i loved Filbert Street. Just thinking about it i can remember it being so much more passionate than the Walkers Stadium. No atmosphere at all really, only in derby games but even then it is the same few fans that generate the atmosphere. If there was a way to get some of that passion back from old Filbo......
emmalcfc Posted 30 March 2005 Posted 30 March 2005 Central News putting Microphone things around all the local teams stands (or maybe all the teams in Leicester's league ) to see which fans were the loudest. Back then, Leicester won triumphantly The steward week in week out, who persistently sat in front of me when we scored. I could only just see as it was Eventually after enough people had told him to move, he decided not to sit there again
SilverFox Posted 30 March 2005 Posted 30 March 2005 Its sad but we have to move on. If all we do as a collective is complain about how Filbert Way is not Filbert Street then the atmosphere will never improve! I'm not suggesting we forget our wonderful past, just that we try to get beyond it and look to the future of the club. Lets build the future at the Walkers and make new folklore, new memories and new stories!
foxilescom Posted 30 March 2005 Posted 30 March 2005 Maybe the problem with the Walkers is that we haven't had enough really good times there since it was opened ?. The day we got promotion to the Premiership would be one memorable day, Any others of note ?
SilverFox Posted 30 March 2005 Posted 30 March 2005 Dennis Wises triumphant return!!! 1-0 up in the first minute from Claridge only for us to storm back!!!! Dennis whats the score, Dennis Dennis whats the score! A repeat on Saturday would be nice please!
Jonbluefox9 Posted 30 March 2005 Posted 30 March 2005 Quick question. I might be moving to the Kop to actually have people around me singing because where I am at the minute there's about 7 of us singing. Would it be a good move to go to the Kop or is the atmosphere poor in there too? Are people going to try and make L1 and the surrounding area even louder by getting more people there? Basically, am I wasting my time moving to the Kop for atmosphere? Dennis Wises triumphant return!!! When he got off the bus last time, someone chucked some coins at him and I was right at the front of the barrier. Half of the coins hit my head instaed.
SilverFox Posted 30 March 2005 Posted 30 March 2005 Sorry, not so triumphant (at least for your head)
