Don't you record at home? What machine do you use?

I just ordered a Boss BR-900V2, it looked good on the spec and the reviews...and it's a Boss.

Slightly different but just took delivery of this little baby...

The Numark total control USB mixer it's great fun you can do all the obvious but you can also start a loop on a track and keep it playing and so on it's great fun

I used to record back on a tape2tape (what turned out to be rather Tangerine Dream type stuff) and could never afford proper kit. It's just for my amusement really; I've got a mike, semi-acoustic & a double humbucker leccy, a keyboard and the 8 track.

I love loops, layers and harmonies balanced with dischord...basically, an aural mess. :D

I was taken with the Boss because of the reviews of its inbuilt digital trickery. Roll on Tuesday - and then that is any plan I had of developing websites over the summer totally blown out of the water! lol

holy mary, mother of god! that is an effing beast!

to be honest, i don't use a standalone recorder, i mean i've used some analogue, 4-track dohickeys in the past, and as part of my degree some proper 16tracks. but everything i do, i do on the pc now, but you don't get that 'hands on' feel something like your 'boss' will give you (oo-er!)

i used a boss drum machine for a bit and it was really nice and simple to use, so hopefully yours will do you just fine - it's all about inputs if you're getting something like that, and i guess your processors (comp, reverb, eq)...

what sort of mic do you have - that's truly the place to invest, i use a rode and it was great value for money....

I've gone on a budget Shure to kick off with - but vocals will be one of the last things I'm bothered about. It's mainly sound and all of that will come straight from the amp. I swear I have a 58 knocking around somewhere in the roof - I need to dig out my old music box.

I want to get some decent yet cheap sampling and looping software n'all. The beatbox aspect is rather redundant now I am the proud hungover owner of a drum kit. :D

i was perhaps thinking more about the acoustic guitar, and if you're using a live kit (seriously) then, again, your mic is important, but Shure sure know what they're doing.

if you wanna do loops something like recycle with reason is probably a good bet, especially if you wanna make some sound collages, some very easy to use synth devices on board...

It's a semi-acoustic

Good call on the software - I'll try out the demo, cheers.
