Matt Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Sky Sport 2. Now. Forest look quite good, matching Reading. Although with Forest's signing's over the summer have impressed me, at 25/1 I was tempted to have a cheeky e/w punt on them but decided not too. Currently 0-0
RedHux Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Given we only had one fit first team forward that was a decent result. Especially as lil' Earn had two big CBs to deal with. When Tyson/Garner/cole and the lad from Melton get fit we might even create a chance or two. My highlight: The Moose This bloke is almost a Forest legend already. Great find!
Jordan Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 I started to yawn a bit in the second half (perhaps that was just me being tired) but Forest showed they can go toe-to-toe with Reading. If first impressions count for anything, I think they'll acquit themselves well in the Championship this season and should have less trouble scoring against most of the other teams. I'll say 10th place.
Darkzzz_ Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 I hate to say this, I really hate to say this. But Forest played well yesterday, they have a excellent player in Moussi. He is a gifted player who likes to play simple football, very clever and breaks the play up. I still hope they get relegated and we actually replace them, But, on that showing I will predict a top 10 finish for them. I wish them no luck what so ever, just thought I would assess them in honesty rather that hatred.
Joe. Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 I love it that we got a bigger attendance than Forest. I don't quite understand it really. Are the ticket prices too high or something RedHux?
RedHux Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 The attendance was, it pains me to say, piss poor. We got more for our first game in league one (24k) then we did for our first game back in the championship. It was £25 for adults so although a bit pricey not unusually so. I suppose it was on telly, and on a Sunday at a stupid time but even with all that taken into account....piss poor. I mean, our average gate last year was about 20k and we were shocking for most of that. I think everything you've all said is about right. We played well. Kept the ball nicely (I think the possesion stats were something daft like 70-30) and although didn't create a massive amount with the additions of the boy from Melton (very highly rated at Swansea last year), Tyson and eventually Garner we'll have some bite up front. Moussi has to be steal of the close season. He's got a real eye for a pass and totally dominated Readings midfield. Well, with some help from Perch. The downside of it all is it'll only take an injury to either full back (actually centre backs but converted and stuck there) or either Wilson or Morgan and our strong defence starts to look a bit shakey. Incidentally, good result for you lot. McFranchise could've potentially been a tricky one. I suspect it'll be a big learning curve for Di Matteo this year.
