They played the game for the most part in the right way and they look to have made a couple of impressive signings. So, from the opening weekend we can conclude that... Chelsea have won the league. Hull will be safe in midtable. Stoke are already down. United are struggling for fourth place. Roll on next season. Edit: Nicky Butt man of the match? Have a ****ing laugh. He had an absolute shocking game and contributed **** all. What a shit decsion that was!!
The Reverend Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Interesting first game for the top 2. Chelsea were rampant, pissed all over Pompey. Deco looked brilliant. I think he's just the sort of player they need, and they played some stunning football at times. No more boring boring Chelsea with Big Phil in charge. Great start to his Chelsea managerial career, even Abramovich looked happy! And i can see why. Dont forget they have Drogba to come back aswel. United on the other hand didnt really impress me. By the look of their team, they must have had several injuries, but they should still be beating the Geordies at home, i mean they've hardly strengthened in the summer, tho like Darkevic sais, that Jonas had a good debut. As did Collocini. I just hope that the people who wrote Chelsea off saw that performance, because they were top class.

Tevez, Nani, Anderson, Hargreaves and Ronaldo all missing, safe to say they'd of played a fairly big part in the game today. United dropped points this time last year, so nothing conclusive at all yet. Yeah they would of played a big part and the title certainly isnt decided on the first day of the season. But if Chelsea play like that consistently, even with United having their big names back, i dont think they could cope. They couldnt last season.

Ultra Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 United lack depth in their squad this season. The two youngsters they brought on were clearly not ready for the Premier League. Ferguson may regret not buying a striker during the summer.
