dandannieldanok Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 Are they the things that were on Breakfast News the other day, you basically read books on an electronic screen? If so, yeah they look pretty shite. I don't see the point to be honest, if you want to read a book then get the real thing.
The People's Hero Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 You can't download the 'real' thing for free though.
Darkzzz_ Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 I have no problem with ebooks, I think they are good, I have downloaded a lot of them for free, most of which would set me back £20 plus. Long live (decent) ebooks....
The People's Hero Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Nathko, what you got mate? Might be interested in a few of them, if you're game? Know of any specialist sites for them?
Alexikokopops Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 You can't download the 'real' thing for free though. But you can go to a library and get them for free. Plus you don't have to stare at a screen while reading it. I do enough of that at work.

I do enough of that at work. I take your point but... a) from the point of view of your eyes, staring at a book is not a lot better for them than staring at a screen. b) I owe the local library quite a bit of money. You're right on the portability aspect though. You and I should be a crack sleuthing duo.

You and I should be a crack sleuthing duo. kindle (the future) has a nice staring-friendly screen (as, i think, do the sony ones) - it also connects via whispernet, so you can download anywhere you can get a mobile connection... obviously this doesn't exist outside of the USA just yet, but wait and see, you can also subscribe to newspapers, magazines osv.
