Did it happen or are these myths ?

was it true that Frank's Swedish missus ran up huge telephone bills because she was constanly on the phone to her family in sweden and it cost him about a month's wages ?

Wouldn't surprise me loads of stories about Frank... most rumour... heard once he was low on petrol stopped at the services on motorway and had no idea how the new fangled high security petrolcap came off.

Also rumour he had his own changing room at half time complete with entertainment... why do you think he had so many clubs he always needed to get out of town...

A true legend.......

thanks  sounds a reasonable thing for the tank to do

i heard that the argument was over sniffer's sneering at the other team members who were relegated and gloating that he was off to leeds ( already a done deal)

Wouldn't surprise me but he did get us to Wembley and then did sod all in the final.....

We were relegated after some dodgy match fixing at Coventry

Thanks, yes was a regular in my youth during the 70's. Moved from Leicester in 81 my work involved working most Saturdays so had little chance to see the City but did my best whenever I could. My last visit to Filbert St was with the away fans when York City played in the 3rd round - we lived only 200yds from the ground in York and we had players lodging with us so when Saturdays became free I went there. It was a great day about 20 odd coaches from York and City won 3 - 0 what an enjoyable trip back.

Spain is great I live on Costa Blanca, Valencia is my team here but I also go and watch my local side Pego CF who play at the same level as say Tamworth over in the UK. its great plenty of theatrics typical latin temperament. The weather is still great...

Have only just discovered the forum and it helps me keep in touch... the links are useful on a Saturday as I can get Radio Leicester and listen to the game.

did graham cross give sniffer clarke a bit of a clout on the bus home from wembley ?

I think Andy Lochhead 'gave him one' as well

Didn't Frank Large go to Fulham in part exchange for Clarke - now there was a legend.

Also remember Clarke had to have special socks - apparently the ones that city wore at the time gave him itch feet. (useless bit of trivia - but apparently true)

Lets face it most of the team probably gave him one including my all time legend Alan Woollett 245 apperances 0 goals!!!

Frank Large was part of the deal we wuld have probably been better keeping him!

As for the socks they were probably knitted by the same women that did Shiltons gloves!!!!!

alan woolett was a much maligned player by some sections of the crowd who did not appreciate the effectiveness of his defending style . he looked very ungainly and even clumsy at times but he regularly marked big name players such as george best out of the game

frank large was a dogged bustling centre forward but i think his best days were over when he went to fulham as part of the deal for clarke

i think we picked him up for a small fee from northampton and his value in the £150,000 clarke deal was said to be around £50,00 which i think was maybe inflated to break the transfer record

welcome mikey 54 :scarf:

i never heard this but that would be a frightning scenario , being attacked by both lochhead and cross

No, it was at Old Trafford after we were relegated there a few weeks later.

Apparently he had already sorted out a move to Leeds, so was allegedly less than bothered whether we stayed up or not.
