Uncle Monty Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 You certainly have, m'duck!Seriously though, it's a lot easier not to get pregnant than it is to get pregnant. Yes, accidents happen, but very few accidents are unpreventable. If you are having sex, you should be prepared to take responsibility for any 'accidents', which many people, to be fair, do. To say "I didn't mean to have kids, this is why I can't bring the little fecker up properly" is wrong. After all, the child has had no choice in being born or who its parents are. If you took your child to a nursery or a childminder, and your child was being fed kebab meat and chips on a daily basis, you would review your child care arrangements. You may even go as far to report them to what ever institution governs them. People are sent to prison for feeding animals poorly, yet parents can get away with contributing to obesity, diabetes, heart disease etc in their children without punishment. I know that there is the issue of choice, and people don't like to be told what to do, but we are dealing with innocent little lives here. To be honest, I blame the parents. I agree in principle with what you're saying. I was refering to the people on Jamie's new programme - they've admitted they don't know what they are doing and have asked for help. The vast majority of people feeding their kids shit can't even see the problem, so the point i'm making is that you know they know what they have done is wrong and have held their hands up for it.

If they knew they were wrong, does that not make it worse? And have they only asked for help because they'll get on the telly? Who knows, this is getting far too serious now!!

Bit harsh there Lease, have you ever known you were doing something wrong but didn't know how to change it and wanted to learn how to do something right?

Katy Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 Of course, but the only life it was ever going to mess up was my own, not somebody else's. My point is at least they are seeking the help, it would be quite easy to bury ones head in the sand and ignore the problem.

Agree with that point, but perhaps the prospect of being on tv would have made it easier for them to ask for help. Urg this sounds cliched but the 'selected' people did appear quite sincere and genuine even if they did look like crack whores.
