I don't particularly like Jamie Oliver.

Just because he said so, meals at school have been changed. I know in principle what he said is right, but children should be free to do what they want. (Unless it's beyond the law, obviously)

I know what you're saying, but it's not like kids have had the choice between healthy meals and junk food a lot of the time.

As a slight aside, why do parents take their children to the gym or swimming or whatever, then hand the newly exercised child a bag of crisps before they have left the changing rooms? Or take them straight upstairs for a plate of chicken nuggets and curly fries?

Children need guidance from their parents to learn what is right and wrong and what is socially acceptable. The same goes for what they are putting into their mouths. If they are brought up stuffing crap into them then they will continue to do so. Babies aren't born with a sweet tooth so why the hell do some parents insist on feeding them sweets to develop one? For an easy life that's why, it's not an easy life in the long run though is it?

I'd rather have my battles with my daughter now so she'll develop into a well rounded individual than trying and failing to 'control' her when she's a teenager. She loves fruit and veg (apart from sprouts which is the norm ;)) and has sweets as a treat and not part of her day to day diet.

Jamie Oliver is just doing what some parents can't be arsed to do!

Lease, they should bring back Highland toffee and proper full sized Wham bars in swimming pool snack machines

Only the parent could answer that one, in full detail to be honest.

There's definetly a line, and I'm not blind as to where it is when it comes to stuff like this, I just don't totally agree/like what he's done.

Jamie Oliver is a cockend - but he is responsible for the meals at our kids' school becoming fabulous. And they love them.

Shame the crap I get served up is still bollocks.

Wham bars are beaut.

I watched jamie oliver's new programme - 'Jamie oliver goes up north and patronises some poor people who cant cook' made good tv. The two main characters (calling them characters as it might as well be a sit-com) are only a year older than me at 22, with two kids each a piece, one looks like a certifiable crack whore and the other looks like she's eaten a baby or two. One of them fed there kids kebab and chips FIVE times a week - beggars belief innit.

I will probably get stick for this, but some people should not be allowed to have children.

To be fair they werent bad people, they just didn't know what to do. I have noticed though that most 'poor' people portrayed on tv whether that be on documentaries or ur secret millionaire lark i've noticed they have massive tv's and all have laminate flooring. What's that all about? I've been on benefits, it don't get you all that shit.

Selling drugs does.

I suggest that the next time you are a bit hard up, sell some drugs.

School children are good custom, as they have a large network of friends.

'The playground plan' was the name of my business model.

I have no idea what to do with a jet fighter, this is probably why I am kept well clear of them.

I don't think that;s a fair comparison. Perhaps these people didn't plan to have children.

I have probably set this up for a Jeremy Kyle style rant from someone.

>_< You certainly have, m'duck!

Seriously though, it's a lot easier not to get pregnant than it is to get pregnant. Yes, accidents happen, but very few accidents are unpreventable. If you are having sex, you should be prepared to take responsibility for any 'accidents', which many people, to be fair, do. To say "I didn't mean to have kids, this is why I can't bring the little fecker up properly" is wrong. After all, the child has had no choice in being born or who its parents are. If you took your child to a nursery or a childminder, and your child was being fed kebab meat and chips on a daily basis, you would review your child care arrangements. You may even go as far to report them to what ever institution governs them. :dunno:

People are sent to prison for feeding animals poorly, yet parents can get away with contributing to obesity, diabetes, heart disease etc in their children without punishment.

I know that there is the issue of choice, and people don't like to be told what to do, but we are dealing with innocent little lives here.

To be honest, I blame the parents.
