EnigmaticFox Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 It is an inevitable consequence in football - just like waiting to hear the sound of the first cuckoo of spring -that, after a team experiences a couple of games without a win, some supporters will call for the manager to be sacked? I won't even bother writing a long diatribe, about just why the statement is nonsense. But, it seems, in the modern world of football, where instant success is demanded of a team, the immediate reaction is to raise a collective shout to, "sack the manager." Everyone knows the example of what happened at Manchester United. Just a few months after Alex Ferguson, had been appointed manager, when the team was going through a sticky patch, there were forceful demands, to "sack the manager!" Fortunately, (for United), these demands were turned down by the board. Everyone knows that Nigel Pearson, is the best manager we have had since Martin O'Neill, whoever city appoint, as their manager, we ARE going to lose some matches, draw some and win some! The trouble with Leicester, is that after years of suffering, expectations are now soaring. But, we have no god given right to win this league, and certainly not to loose every match. Of course things are said in the heat of battle, I wanted to kick my computer in disgust at the final whistle last night. Of course we will boo, we will opinionate, that is the point of supporting your team. But please, bring some reality into the situation, along with your comments! Cheers Lincolnshire exile.
Bert Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 I remember when O'Neill was first appointed - He didn't win a game for IIRC around 10 matches, and we went up. We've had a good start and we need to get behind the lads and build on it.
dandannieldanok Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Has anyone actually said on here that they want Pearson sacked, I haven't seen it. I think negativity of the team's current performance is being misinterpreted as wanting the manager gone, which is wrong in most cases. Everyone knows that Nigel Pearson, is the best manager we have had since Martin O'Neill I disagree but each to their own
Hackneyisblue Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 So who in your opinion was better than NP

Ross-Kemp Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 I'll admit, I boo'ed last night, but that was the fact, we had travelled over 100+ miles, spent alot of money, froze to near death. and only 3 players came over to acknowledge us being there.
Hackneyisblue Posted 29 October 2008 Posted 29 October 2008 Adams. I've yet to see NP take off the wrong player in every game. Didn't the last season go something along the lines of 'if games finished at 75 mins we would have qualified for Europe, we got relegated'? I was gone by then, who came over?

It's all about opinions and since O'Neill I believe our best manager was Micky Adams. A lot of people will disagree and say Pearson which is fine.
