marbelladave Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 No way! Not if we continue to play as we have the last few games, that will get us nowhere. We need to regain the ascendancy that we showed in the early part of the season which will not be easy. As noted elsewhere, the opposition know know enough about us and how we play to have an effective gameplan when they play us. On the other hand we still have enough about us to totally dominate Brighton (first half) despite having makeshift replacements for 2 key players, so I strongly believe that the talent is there. We need to mix up our attacking play and we need to be more dominating, especially when we get a lead. Down to leadership I suppose, we really need a shakeup in that department!

marbelladave Posted 31 October 2008 Posted 31 October 2008 Hi Colbo In the last few games we have become very predictable. Our wide men stay wide (as instructed?) but the opposition get tight, often with a man in support and we are fvcked. Our only alternative appears to be the long ball up to Howard which since we are so much better with the ball on the ground is a nonsense. If we have to leave out Howard in order to stop the long ball game then so be it. Make Fryatt the focus of the attack and FFS play the ball on the floor! Instead of keeping the wingers out wide, get them to cut inside and provide a real goal threat, use width to stretch the defense by all means but be more flexible and unpredictable. Getting our quick, skillful players running at 3rd division central defenders will cause them far more trouble than hopeful aerial punts forward!
