PAULCFC Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 Just a quick question,i've got setanta with a freeview box and have just bought a sony bravia tv with freeview built in.Can i now ditch the freeview box and get an adapter to slot the card straight into the tv and if so where can i pick up the adapter?
Ozwin Posted 9 November 2008 Posted 9 November 2008 I was thinking this yesterday, but what sort of adapter plugs into a telly and allows you to slot a card in?
Ozwin Posted 10 November 2008 Posted 10 November 2008 Right I think I found out the answer. There should be a slot on the back of your tv somewhere, this is where a CAM device comes into play: http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/s...p;Submit=GO+%3E This basically slots into that slot in the back of your telly and another card that comes with it slots into that, looks like this: I think, and don't take my word for it, that all tvs with freeview built in have that slot. Hope that's helped as it took a while for me to figure out.
AmericanScott Posted 10 November 2008 Posted 10 November 2008 I just had a look around my tv and i too have found a card slot! My life is now changed. Ninja edit: Cheers Ozwin
Ozwin Posted 10 November 2008 Posted 10 November 2008 No problem Glad I could find out the solution as I'm goinn to christen my new HDTV with Setanta Sports when I get it.
AmericanScott Posted 11 November 2008 Posted 11 November 2008 I was having a look online to find those top up tv cards (you get UKTV Gold and those channels) and they stopped making the damn things! I'm not splashing out £80 for a top up tv box. Where do you get the Setanta Cards from anyway?

Ozwin Posted 11 November 2008 Posted 11 November 2008 That link I posted comes with the adapter which goes into the tv slot and the card which goes into that. It's worth it though, I mean you're getting 4 months for £40 which works less than the £11 a month plus cost for the adapter. I can't wait to get it sorted. I just need the TV first.
