Lillehamring Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 Not strictly true. The decision was made to house away fans in that corner, so it has been designed to be segregated properly, and in the event of cup games, can be extended. As well as that, there are police cells in that corner, and as most incidents requiring the facilities are going to be where the home and away fans are next to each other, to move the away fans to the other end of the ground makes things a little more harder for the constabulary. yeah, i figured there would be all kinds of logistical probs moving the away fans... just emphasises the fact that the club were determined to keep the kop and the away fans separate, typical... in effect, the fear of trouble has resulted in the death of atmosphere. shame.

The Safety Advisory Group advocated that, from what I remember, but the fans were canvassed, and the majority wanted to stay in relatively the same position, including those in the South Stand. Unfortunately that would have included those who sat in the Double Decker, who wouldn't be concerned if they weren't near the away fans.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 Maybe we should cut our losses, burn down our own stadium and rebuild a larger replica of Filbert Street on the site?
Chairman of the Bored Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 Apparently at Ipswich they let a couple of Norwich fans loose in their Kop and it just kicks off. A Tree or a Sheep for The Walkers?

Dennis Wise effigy for us? Maybe we should just let an actual fox loose amongst a flock of sheep in The Kop about fifteen minutes before kickoff?

Blanesta Posted 2 January 2009 Posted 2 January 2009 i think the factor that most people have overlooked is that having the singing section along the side of the pitch sucks and always will suck for numerous reasons, however, for a singing section to scuceed, as well as being behind a goal, it also needs to be next to the away fans, sooooo.....the chances of getting some atmosphere at the walkers needs one of two things to happen, either: 1. swapping the designation of the family stand and the kop, or 2. moving the away fans to the corner next to the kop on the east side - as it was at filbert street. personally, until either of these changes are implemented, i can't see creating an atmosphere being anything other than pissing in the wind. no doubt the club would cite numerous logisitical and beaurocratic reasons why they won't do this... I totally agree!!! it's brilliant fun down near the away fans, and thats what the kop needs back!!!! this is my fist post so sorry if i've messed it up
