Edmund Posted 22 January 2009 Posted 22 January 2009 FoxyArmy's Late Night Sessions Had a look around and noticed mainly indie mixes, unfortunately for indie lovers this is more on an electronic tip so can't please everyone but it contains music across the board : broken beat, nu jazz, hip hop, drum and bass and house. Just a few personal favourites suited for those late night sessions. Some Old, Some New, Some Classics, Some Un Heard of's. Enjoy. P.S. You don't have to review just a drop a little message if you enjoy. FoxyArmy

Ive tried downloading your mix but it has expired unfortunately. Im sure you will have a new mix up yourself soon, so look forward to hearing. We need to get this place more lively. Love listening to new music.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 27 January 2009 Posted 27 January 2009 Sorry mate didn't realise you'd posted it up (since the post was asking how to) but downloading it now. Will listen through a couple of times before I comment.

Glad you like coldcut also. Ive got a coldcut radio 1 essental mix which I might put up if I get a spare moment. The coldcut tune on this mix is a remix by switch, bit different but is a dancefloor banger. Tried to make this mix vary and not stick to certain genres, so will be hard to please throughout but im sure theres something which will to appeal to some and some which wont. Just tunes I generally listen to in the early hours.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 3 February 2009 Posted 3 February 2009 Review time! Death of a 1000 Cuts – Beats In Progress Nice little mix for an intro. Reminds me of The Avalanche’s Frontier Psychiatrist. Where Have They Gone – Harmonic 33 A little bit meh with this one in that the stuff in here I’ve heard sampled lots of times before. Not a lot happening aside from that either. Broken Eyes – Concord Dawn I’m sorry, but for some reason I have a real problem with people using vo-coders. 99% of the time it just sounds crap and this didn’t qualify for the other 1%. True Skool – Coldcut One of the standout tracks of this mix. Naturally! Don’t think I need to say much on this. Toop Toop – Cassius Sure I’ve come across their stuff before (and Edwin Van Cleefs mixes too) I like this a lot and I’ll look up more of their stuff! Drop It Down – Calibre ft MC Fats I’m getting bpm overload Tinha Que Se Com Voce – DJ Patife Hate this type of latino lounge music – next! If We Ever – High Contrast ft Diane Charlemagne Not bad, but I don’t think I could listen to this too much. The drum loops are a little too repetitive, I’d have liked it mixed up a little. Btw, did the female vocal sing on Goldie’s Timeless album? I Had None – P Money ft Mystro Not bad, but this could be almost any of the current crop of rappers who seem to like having The Chipmunks as background singers. ESP – Jehst Yeah, yeah – nice chilling late night stuff. Shame about the stupid lyrics. Basic Instinct – Ghost I quite like this. Smooth and mellow. Having said that I don’t think I like it enough to follow up any time soon. The Jellyfish – Danny Breaks It’s a filler track and nothing more. Moonlight – The Politik ft Blu Don’t like Blu’s rapping, but I like the female background singers… those bits are good! Not enough of it in there though. Puffin Dance – Umod Do puffins dance? If they did, I imagine that they would dance like this… discordantly. That’ll be a no then. Hell’s Kitchen – Ming & FS A bit boring… no, a lot boring. Lo – Zero 7 More niced chilled music that I liked, possibly a little too repetitive, but getting there. Entertainment – Piface Records Love it, great mix – Andy Weatherall involved here at all? Cos it’s got his fingerprints all over it! Nice outro though. **************************************************************************** Thanks for that FoxyArmy - enjoyed much, hated a few, but that's what you get on various mixes. One tip - next time make it shorter. Shorter mixes don't get intimidating (and therefore put off!)

Only thing I disagree with, is you stating the lyrics on the jehst track are stupid. This man is a poet imo and his lyrics are very deep but everyones entitled to there own opinions and I respect yours. I shall make the next one a little shorter also and maybe not so electronic as you stated a lot of tunes are repetitve. This is mainly due to them having to be dj friendly. Give us a heads up when you post a mix and I shall return the favour. Nice one.

I have to say that when I was listneing to it at work on my walkman I enjoyed it, but sitting at my PC concentrating on it (to write my review) I didn't like it so much and I think a lot of the tracks work very well as background.
