fox123 Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 My mate is auditioning for The Full Monty today (Curve) it's nearing a sell out already, and doesn't open until June. Should be quite funny and looking forward to going, anyone else going? On a side note the Mrs and Kid went to see Wicked at the London Victoria Apollo yesterday (the kids a big Kerry Ellis fan) and said it was absolutely amazing...quite a few people I know have been, have also said amazing story's about it, disappointed I didn't go now. Edit to say; My mate got the part, think he is going to be the ginger one - the one that's in Coronation Street now. Details: Full Monty @ Curve.
Guest Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Not going to that but am going to see The Pillowman there soon. A friend of mine works there and raves about it. As an aside, I can advise going to see The Woman In Black at The Fortune Theatre in London. Genuinely makes you jump and incredibly atmospheric
General Smuts Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 I took the missus to see Avenue Q the other week as her christmas pressie and i know Wilkesy did the same for his. I flpping loved it, but then any show with a song called 'The Internet Is For Porn' will always win me over.
fox123 Posted 12 June 2009 Author Posted 12 June 2009 Went to Curve last night to watch 'The Full Monty', really, really good. Has anyone been to see this yet, or is going to see it? I think all the shows have been sold out, with three being left, tonight Saturday Matinee and Saturday night. My best mate played Malcolm (as said above) and I thought he was really good, the whole cast were. Was very impressed with Curve, nice atmosphere, the bar area was really relaxing, and the service was quite quick. After the production has ended, Curve do half price Beers and Wine (obviously to keep people there) which I think is quite a nice touch. All in all, very enjoyable night, and would recommend anyone to go.
Zingari Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 I wish I'd been an actress. stop being such a drama queen

The queu's for the drinks etc was way too long, but the theatre itself was nice!!

Dr The Singh Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 did she say anything else was too long ? Yes, when she came back home and saw Mr Singh, she said mine was too long compared to the ones on the show....................she was talking about my boxer shorts!!!!

The queu's for the drinks etc was way too long, but the theatre itself was nice!! I suppose. if she was expecting something out of 'Broadway or the 'Westend' or, something closely related to the film she may have been slightly disappointed. It was based in Buffalo rather than Sheffield, and the song's were very 'Americanised' (I'm imagining due to film rights) but for an Amateur Operatic Society, who incidentally don't get paid to perform, it was a very good, and funny show. I suppose you will always get a few who don't like it. Edit to say: Maybe she was at a different bar to me, the bar I was at, majority of people got served relatively quickly.
The Reverend Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 I know somebody who went who said it was crap - stupid American accents, too musical like and too long.
Granno Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 I know somebody who went who said it was crap - stupid American accents, too musical like and too long. My neighbour went, and echoed this.
