Hell I don't suppose Nigel Griffiths is the first MP to allegedly enjoy an office "job". It's probably on an MP's list of "things he must do in a lifetime". But Griffiths doesn't exactly come across as a master of the seductive arts.

Doubtless his good lady will have something to say, if not about the dalliance then about the fact that it's all over the media. But I'm quite sure his companion won't be exactly flattered to know that her friend "has little recollection" of the Parliamentary privilege he enjoyed! And that on Remembrance Day!

I do wonder though if whatever went on will be recorded as additional "government positions". Assuming either party can remember what went on, of course. You can, however, perhaps understand why Griffiths was once Enterprise Minister.

Complaint made over MP's expenses

A Tory MP has lodged an official complaint about Labour minister Tony McNulty's second home expenses claims.

Greg Hands has asked Parliament's standards commissioner John Lyon to look into whether rules were breached.

Work minister Mr McNulty has claimed £60,000 since 2002 for the house in his Harrow constituency - 11 miles from the Commons - where his parents live.

He says he did not break any rules but the case has added to pressure for a wide-ranging probe into MPs' expenses.

The independent Committee on Standards in Public Life, set up in the 1990s to look into parliamentary sleaze, is to look at the system, the BBC has learned.
