How Many Tracks Are In Your Library?

Recommended Posts

I only have 1015 songs but they take up 24.16 GB so I couldn't put more than 3000 or so on my Ipod. I only record them in MP4 "lossless" mode. MP3 is seriously compressed and only contains 10% of the information of an MP4 or even less of a CD.

How do you get songs in mp4? Can you convert mp3s to mp4s? I dont understand it.

I have got 'youtube downloader' which lets you download vids off youtube. But it also lets you convert vids and audio you have on your pc to different formats etc. I just tried to convert one of my mp3's to mp4 and it's worked perfect, listening to it now. I never knew you could do it cos I thought mp4 was video! If you wanna use that and need help post on here, but it's easy to use once you done it a couple times.

You can get youtube downloader here download.com

It will convert vid to avi, wmv, 3gp, mov and a few more. You can also rip the audio from a vid just to an audio file. (I always make a copy of what I converting first cos a couple of times my file has disappeared if conversion goes wrong, rare though)

yea I thought mp4 was video aswell, I'll try that youtube downloader, thanks. Does mp4 provide a better quality sound then? what makes it different/better than mp3?

Not sure mate, I can't really hear any difference. After I converted it the mp4 file is a little bigger than the original mp3, so it could be a bit better quality, but it's hard to tell on my speakers. I always find mp3 good enough for me

If you do use this program, there are 2 mp4 convert options. One is 'PSP Video H.264mp4' the other is 'iphone video MPEG-4 mp4'. I converted to the iphone one. (I know it says video but if you only converting an mp3 it will work as mp4 audio)

Won't make it better quality converting MP3 to MP4 as the quality has already been lost. You will get a bit better quality if you rip straight from CD to MP4 though. To be honest I can't really tell the difference, I think you need to be playing through a quality stereo to really tell.

6333 in my library, don't know how to see how many artists

How much of a reduction is that over it being uncompressed? Quick sums put 1000 uncompressed cd quality 5 minute tracks at 25GB or so - might do better with FLAC?

Where's this 10% number come from anyway?

Random thread, done before but sod it. I seem to have a fair amount, but I'm sure I'll get eclipsed by Daggers et al.

Anyway, I have 6961.

2463 via 1,000 artists, i must be division 4 compared to you :D
