Darkzzz_ Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I was working in Surrey at the time at an American Air Base, we were told we had to leave the site as they were shutting it down on high alert, getting back home was a nightmare. I will never forget seeing the carnage on the news, something I will never forget. The closest I came to a terrorist attack was 9/11, I was actually in NY in 2001 I was up in the WTC in the windows on the world restaurant they had there, This was just 6 weeks before and Septemeber 11th is my birthday.... Very very strange time for me. Some other bad things happened in my life just a matter of weeks later. A year I will never forget.

Bleedin ell, it's a good job you hadn't arranged the trip to NY for your birthday.
BoneDog Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 The C.I.A? It weren't them. It was two other agencies, one British and one from the middle east

We left New York to Boston 2 weeks before this happened, and we then flew from Boston Logan Airport back to London few days before the whole thing happened. It was a bit surreal for me at the time.
Guest Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I remember it well, I was in a basement studio in Westminster when it happened and I heard all about it, but was so focussed on finishing my mix that nothing was dragging me out of that studio. Then when I emerged about 2-3 hours later I had about 25 text messages and about 10 answerphone messages all checking that I was okay. I felt a bit guilty afterwards for not leaving earlier to check my messages to be honest. Truly horrible day all round. RIP to those who lost their lives that day. I do remember, as I think James said earlier, back to work almost as normal the next day. I do like that sort of resilience in the british mentality.
