Jordan Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Watson clearly ran out of gas on 18. He had nothing left in the playoff, and he knew it. He might not have been crying but he certainly looked like it. Well done Stewart Cink for coming through in the clutch. He was money on the back nine and made simple work of the playoff.
Ultra Posted 19 July 2009 Author Posted 19 July 2009 Watson will always wonder what could've been... But so will a number of other golfers - Westwood in particular.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Stewart Cink would of celebrated with a few Stewart Cinks
maddog Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 Absolutely gutted for Watson. He hit a perfect tee shot and 2nd shot on 18, was very unlucky for his ball not to stop but it just rolled through the green making it dodgy. But wtf was he thinking putting the 3rd and then pussy footing around the putt to win the open. Totally shocked when he did that Could have been one of the top 10 sporting moments in history easily, so harsh on him. As for Stewart Cink not really fussed that he won. This open will be remembered for Watson's amazing performance, and the Englishmen Westwood and Wood coming close, and Woods missing the cut And babygate
