But if the weather cuts up rough, and the forecast for the weekend is not promising, it could be thrown wide open. Harrington's not been on great form this year, but maybe the occasion will bring the best out of him once more. Thoughts?

My money is going on Rory McIllroy £10 e/w at 40/1

I think he will have a bad day tomorrow and hit 5/1 then it might be worth backing him

I was thinking let another let down by the bbc by not having this is HD, just frustrates me no end. If they dont show their new football contracts in HD then i doubt they will keep their contracts for more than a season.
The Reverend Posted 17 July 2009 Posted 17 July 2009 I went to Turnberry yesterday, it was fucking spectacular. The course is amazing, the views are awesome and the weather was scorching. Was a pretty amazing day. Saw some brilliant golf aswel. Looks like Tigers gonna miss the cut though. Its wide open. Could be another nobody like a Curtis or Hamilton again. Time will tell. And go on Tom Watson, what a legend.

Jordan Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 The leaders are on the back nine, and really, anything can happen. Watson's picking himself back up now, look out! One of my roommates is a golf pro, and I was talking to him about Watson; he was amazed, but not completely surprised. He was explaining how this is something that could almost only happen at the British Open. American courses at the highest level are designed to be much more difficult in terms of pure shot-making. The courses used for the Open, however, are almost always links courses, with lots of wind, very solid ground and rolling hills. Having a feel for the lay of the land is immensely important. You don't need to be the biggest hitter; just keep the shots low, solid, and put 'em in a good spot to get a great roll (also knowing the grain is huge on the greens). Tiger's won the Open before hitting the 4-iron off the tee on par fours and fives; in the American majors, he'll blast his drives. Watson still hits the ball low and solidly, and he's a great links player. He's won the Open five times (once at Turnberry) and the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, so this is all familiar to him ... yet all of this before I was born! If Watson can finish this off, do I give him all of the respect I have, or do I lose all respect for the athleticism of professional golf for allowing a 59-year-old to win a major championship?
