davieG Posted 15 August 2009 Posted 15 August 2009 Ipswich Town were giving away 50 page glossy Bobby Robson memorial magazine today, I can't imagine LCFC doing anything remotely like that we don't even recognise in any way the time Gordon Banks played for us during which he won his World Cup medal. But enough of the griping the sign of the times was actually a fact regarding Bobby Robson's time at Ipswich and listed in that magazine that smacked me right in the face: In his thirteen and a half years at Portman Road from January 1969 until July 1982 when he became England manager and during which they had 8 years in Europe he signed just 14 players - amazing!
Gaffer Posted 15 August 2009 Posted 15 August 2009 Fantastic gesture, good quality book and a good read. Never in a million years would City do anything remotely like this, good to see home and away fans being allowed it too.
acooling08 Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Well, to be honest he has nothing to do with Leicester so I couldn't care less about us not having anything special. I think he's recieved to much attention - more than Patch for example.

Well I wasn't suggesting that LCFC should have something special for Robson if that's what your thinking, as for the attention compared to Patch you are probably right but there's many, many undeserving shitty celebrities who've achieved FA in their lives who receive significantly more attention than either of them so I can't really see what your disingenuous outburst is for, and if you feel so strongly about the attention why increase it by posting in a thread about him?
ousefox Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Only 14 players, that is a feat. I couldn't believe it when i first heard about this! Didn't we sign about the same amount of players in one season when we had Martin Allen!!

Im guessing the majority of the new players would come through the youth academy.
Toby or not Toby Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 I couldn't believe it when i first heard about this! Didn't we sign about the same amount of players in one season when we had Martin Allen!! Yes, proves the point of quality not quantity
