Jordan Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 (Off the topic of the video, but you've gotta love the shot at 1:53.) So, Fulham: are they really full of pride, or full of crap? Interesting to see a Premier League club take shots at the state of the modern game, but is this genuine or just pandering to their fans?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 September 2009 Posted 27 September 2009 This seems to be a growing trend this season, different parts of the problem trying to put across this image of going back to basics and the fans mattering. And yet it's all in the pursuit of money. The worst offenders were ESPN with that excruciating marketing campaign about how important it is to witness that crucial moment in your team's season. Yeah, I'm sure there will Bolton or Hull fans absolutely ecstatic that they bought ESPN, sat through hours of watching other teams only to find out their crucial relegation decider was being screened on Sky instead, and that's before mentioning the most important point of all - that it's about actually being there, not watching it on the bloody telly. Maybe it was Sky moving our two late October games to bookend a single working week that irked me enough to rant about its rival's advert. Sky's advertising is equally vomit-inducing. I only watched the first 20 seconds of the video. I'll watch the rest now and decide whether Fulham deserve my vitriol after all. Jesus, this drags on. "The empty goals, portals to our souls"?! The sentiment may be the right one but Fulham were taken over by a millionaire with no previous connection to the club, in pursuit of a rapid ascent up the leagues to the Premiership. I hope they understand if I scoff at their self-righteous little video.

Not to mention the fact that half their fanbase is made up of tourists and neutral Londoners looking for cheap Premiership football.
Shrenchel Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 Not to mention the fact that half their fanbase is made up of tourists and neutral Londoners looking for cheap Premiership football. I't hardly cheap. I know a couple of real Fulham fans but can they fook afford the £750 a season ticket costs. The neutral thing is spot on though, the only 3 lads I have ever met that actually regularly go to Craven Cottage were west london Liverpool/Man United fans in their early 30s that just went because they had the disposable income but couldn't be fooked to travel up north to watch the teams they actually support. Their fanbase is fooking shit. You could hear a pin drop onto a fat bird's arse in the home end. It makes the Walkers look like La Bombonera despite the fact the low roofs and compact feel mean it should be fooking bangin. All this look how well we treat our fans stuff is bollocks as well. When I used to read susd there were a couple of fulham fans on their who were always complaining because the few people trying to stand or create an atmosphere get treated like scum by the stewards and the club.

Shrenchel Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 I've got a couple of fake Fulham fans and they paid £400 for theirs... Yeah I just looked, they're actually relatively inexpensive. Just assumed they were all far more because my girlfriend's mates that are fulham fans said they couldnt afford to get one and then I met these boys that said theirs cost about 750. That seems to be towards the top end posh seats though. Suprised they don't usually sell out considering how cheap they are really, would have thought there'd be city boys with £400 quid in their pocket looking for something to do on a saturday afternoon.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 28 September 2009 Posted 28 September 2009 It's an awesome video up until about 3 minutes, then it starts going on about how different Fulham are to every other Premiership club. The fact is..... they're not. They even have a dig about Russian and American billionaires buying football clubs then show a picture of Al Fayed. you could make a video like that about any team in the entire country.
