davieG Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 It was a newspaper article which he probably said in the heat of the moment. Are we just going to remember him for that one comment. Don't be ridiculous. I couldn't give two iotas as long as he gives his best and bangs in goals. He probably only said it because he'd been told he hadn't got a future at Leicester.

Something he has never done in a 'competitive' match for us I remember him for being:- 1) woefully inadequate in front of goal 2) unable to stay onside 3) no positional sense at all 4) for being desperate to leave us when we were relegated and and continues to be so (cant reveal source but know it is true) The fact he's scoring tap-ins against Tranmere Reserves/Youth does not make him a reformed character
Edmund Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 He probably only said it because he'd been told he hadn't got a future at Leicester. Which only backs my point up. He is only human, if your tossed aside its natural to have to have resentment. Yes it was unprofessional but people on this forum are reading too much into nothing. Now he is scoring for fun. You also seem to be forgetting a little spell at a seaside club lasts season and these so called tap ins have happened on more than one occasion scoring for fun in the reserves. No coincidence

No coincidence You wont find a post from me criticising Fryatt. Comparing DJ to Matty is laughable really, DJ is supposedly a seasoned pro whereas Matty was just out his teens 2 years ago. Also, your point about Blackpool actually backs up my point! DJ actually wanted to be up there as opposed to down here at City, therefore he obviuosly made more effort to stay onside etc and got his rewards with the goals. Dudley Junior does not want to be at this club, he only turns up as he is contractually obliged too, you or I are about as likey to make a first team appearance for City as he is!!
Thracian Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 All this love for DJ makes me Have you all forgotten that he does not want to play for this club?? We've been through it all before. We know what DJ said but none of us know why he said. None of us have heard his side and there is one - at least according to an acquaintance of his that I happen to know. Not that it really matters. DJ is a professional footballer. He's paid to play for Leicester City. I don't think I've ever seen him not try in a City shirt so whether he wants to be here or not matters not at all. Lots of players don't much care for their manager or some of the players in their team but still have to make the best of it. Pick the best avalable team would be my philosophy. There is no question he's good enough to get goals in the Championship. How to actually get the best out of him might be another challenge altogether. But we're not getting many goals out of anyone else (apart from Fryatt) so I do wonder if we shouldn't be asking questions of our staff. I don't know whether we have a specialist forwards coach but wouldn't be surprised if we didn't because there are so many ways in which our attacking could be improved.

All im saying is Campbell has very much been made a scapegoat just like Fryatt was a couple of seasons ago on here. I never said you personally said a bad word abut Fryatt but the majority (bandwagoners) did just like Campbell. Also, your point about Blackpool actually backs up my point! How? He proved to everyone at city he can score goals a championship level? DJ actually wanted to be up there as opposed to down here at City, therefore he obviuosly made more effort to stay onside etc and got his rewards with the goals. Well firstly if hes been tossed aside and looking to play football somewhere else he needs to play well on loan surely to find a new suitor? Would you have been happy if he played badly just to prove that he wants to play for city? What you have said makes no sense. Dudley Junior does not want to be at this club, he only turns up as he is contractually obliged too, you or I are about as likey to make a first team appearance for City as he is!! Again back to square one. Assumptions based on a newspaper article. Fickle. You are saying you don't want him to play because of one comment he made. How do you know he doesn't regret what he said and is trying his hardest to get back in the team?

He's here to play football and at considerable cost. I'd be interested to know the terms of his contract and what we might have to pay him per appearance in the first team and for win bonuses, scoring etc. Perhaps those figures don't make it easier for the club to pick him and what he said about the club may perhaps serve as a convenient excuse for leving him out.

Im saying I dont want him here as I do not rate him as a footballer, his attitude stinks and he himself doesnt want to play for us. How I know this isnt the point, I understand the 'Source Police' wont be impressed but thats tough. I trust Nige, not having a bad season are we??

So its all a big conspiracy then?? Does this mean you think Nige actually wants to play him but the club can't afford to? - Makes the signing of Gallagher seem a little strange then!!!!
Edmund Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 Im saying I dont want him here as I do not rate him as a footballer, his attitude stinks and he himself doesnt want to play for us. Fair enough, thats were we both are at disagreement. He didn't have the best spells when he did play but he didn't have the worst. To be honest he hasn't really been given a big chance considering all the different managers etc. I just think he hasn't reached his potential at Leicester. He proved at Birmingham and his short spell at Blackpool that he is a goal scorer at this level. How I know this isnt the point, I understand the 'Source Police' wont be impressed but thats tough. Well until you reveal your source it's just an armchair view as well as is mine and nothing is fact I trust Nige, not having a bad season are we?? I am one of Nige's biggest fans and have always had positive things to say about him on here and yes are season has been fantastic so far in my view. It's just this one minor thing that I think he should be giving DJ a chance but then again we don't know whats been said between the two. I don't think there is any conspiracy or any issues with money I think it is just stubbornness. It's obvious they have fallen out in the past but as two professionals they should put there differences aside for the fans sake. Do you think Pearson is going to play DJ ahead of Gallagher up front? A player he signed with the chairmans money. Of course not. At the end of the day unless we are savagely injury hit DJ will not get a look in just based on principle and not ability which I disagree with. Until I hear both sides of the coin then I will stick with my view. I just see a proven goalscorer at this level rotting away when we are still crying out for another striker.
