Tilley Posted 18 October 2009 Posted 18 October 2009 Unfortunately for Rafa when Gerrard and Torres are out the squad is weak. Reina is top class in goal. Johnson is brilliant going forward but still there is question marks over his defensive capabilities, Carragher doesn't seem the be the same player as seasons before, as someone put on Sunday Supplement - Martin Skrtel is 6'4 but jumps 5'8 and Insua isn't the best left back around. As for their midfield, I stand by what I have always said in that Dirk Kuyt is woeful but covers up his performances with crucial goals, Lucas is a joke, just awful. Mascherano is class I think but I don't think he'll be there much longer, Riera has never set the world alight and is probably another failure that Benitez brought over from Spain. Vornin and N'gog are terrible and Babel promised so much but has produced very little. I still don't think Rafa should have sold Peter Crouch or Robbie Keane and if you look at his recent performances for Manchester City, you could probably put Craig Bellamy in that list too. They have a decent sized squad but unfortunately alot of the players aren't no where near good enough for the Liverpool first team. Rafa and Alonso obviously had their differences which weren't helped by the Barry love in and if a player doesn't want to be at your club then there is no point keeping him but they miss Alonso alot. Everyone said Arsenal would be the team to drop out the top four this season with Manchester City spending big but with Villa finding their form and Spurs looking a good outfit under Redknapp, I'd be very worried if I was a Liverpool fan because if they don't make the Champions League and with their current financial situation, Torres will be off, probably back to Spain.
dandannieldanok Posted 18 October 2009 Posted 18 October 2009 Carragher doesn't seem the be the same player as seasons before I'd go as far to say he looks pretty crap now, he's really declined.
Ashley Posted 18 October 2009 Posted 18 October 2009 David Moyes Martin O'Neill.Matched and slapped. I can see either of these two at Manchester United when Sir Alex quits.
Tilley Posted 18 October 2009 Posted 18 October 2009 Benitez's replacement will be someone who is currently unemployed. I honestly don't think Liverpool have the sterling to pay off Benitez and then compensate another club.
