Steven Posted 25 October 2009 Posted 25 October 2009 Ok so you will defo need the phone line then. Not to sure but I've still got one downstairs. No you don't. I have Sky+ without a phone. I think the phone bit comes in when you use a Sky engineer.

No by contract terms you have to be connected to a phone line. Read Davie G's post above with the e-mail. But the fact they say you need it doesn't mean that it's always the case. You can still operate without the phoneline but for example you wont recieve anytime tv on your box.

As for upgrades they are OTA as the recent upgrade to my TV Guide proves.
BoneDog Posted 25 October 2009 Posted 25 October 2009 I had the engineer round mine just on friday to install my third sky + box after the two previous were faulty. The same guy turns up each time and I reckon you will get him as you're not to far away from me. He is sound and isn't one of the engineers that does it by the book if you know what I mean. I'm grassin

I'm no expert. Anyways my standard sky box downstairs is not plugged in half of the year whilst abroad so I'm in agreement that the whole phone line business isn't important. I just thought Sky + needed it for the extras. The engineer told me that they randomly check peoples boxes are connected by doing a callback once in a while but I'm yet to hear from them in regards to why the box is not plugged in. I'm grassin
davieG Posted 27 October 2009 Author Posted 27 October 2009 All installed, the engineer changed both the connectors on the extension lead for me and it worked fine. Thanks for everyone's help.
