AoWW Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Mine's going in for its MOT at 9.30 on Saturday - it's going to need good vibes too. If it gets through it'll be a miracle.

lou Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 well i'll bet the boot strut doesn't fail it. mine failed, but it was only a tyre, which i knew was low on tread why didnt you change it prior to the MOT then?
stez Posted 23 November 2009 Author Posted 23 November 2009 why didnt you change it prior to the MOT then? thought it might sneak through. i have a new one now and i'm popping out for a re-test in a bit.....so it'll be all good, as long as the breaks (which got a mention on the advice sheet)haven't gone below the limit in the mean time! <_<

Alexikokopops Posted 24 November 2009 Posted 24 November 2009 I recommend going to a Council Test centre if there's one near you. My mate took his car in for an MOT and they quoted him £500 to do the repairs. I told him about a council place nearby and he took it there last week. It cost him about £180 overall (with test and retest fee) to get all the repairs done and also the brakes (which didn't need doing). They don't do repairs at the council ones so you can just get a list of exactly what needs doing, rather than getting fleeced for extra stuff by iffy MOT centres. Obviously if you know a good place anyway then this doesn't really matter.
dandannieldanok Posted 24 November 2009 Posted 24 November 2009 Punto's are useless, well mine is anyway . Cost me about as much in repairs as buying the actual car itself.
Teece Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Mine had its retest and finally passed only yesterday... after having to shell out £600 on the damn thing
AoWW Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 Mine failed. Bloody boot strut - I'll get a professional to fit it next time.
stez Posted 29 November 2009 Author Posted 29 November 2009 Mine failed. Bloody boot strut - I'll get a professional to fit it next time. you mean you've not had an mot for over 2 years?
AoWW Posted 29 November 2009 Posted 29 November 2009 you mean you've not had an mot for over 2 years? They obviously didn't look at the strut last year. (Tbh, I think the fact that the handbrake proved to be less than 10% efficient had more to do with it!)
stez Posted 29 November 2009 Author Posted 29 November 2009 They obviously didn't look at the strut last year. (Tbh, I think the fact that the handbrake proved to be less than 10% efficient had more to do with it!) was that all that was wrong? i'm sure they've relaxed the emission rules, because previous (and sometimes newer) cars seemed to fail on that every year.

Yeah, just that and one sidelight (which, frustratingly, had been fine when I checked all the lights the Wednesday before). So, can't complain really. Just need to get those couple of bits sorted and take it for the retest.
