Rocket-Ron Posted 10 March 2010 Author Posted 10 March 2010 Just to copy vinyl onto my computer. It doesnt have to be external just that i have a spare lap top but would be just as easy using my desctop. I've dug out my old seperates. Creek 4040 amp. Rega planar 2 turntable with an A&R C77 Cartridge and using mission 761i Speakers as monitors. have managed to copying some records using audacity but the sound quality not good enough. So only need a line in input in the sound card as have no intention to use as surround sound. Also have a QED line in to rca cable which is great connected to my other system so I know thats good enough. Cheers, Ron.
hairy Posted 10 March 2010 Posted 10 March 2010 I recommend Sony Soundforge for recording. I have found it very easy to use. To clean up the rip by far the best program I have found for taking out clicks and rumble is clickrepair. It doesn't damage the recording like others do. If you need either of them then let me know. I cant remember what card I have at the moment but I think most 24/96 cards are good enough.

hairy Posted 15 March 2010 Posted 15 March 2010 Cheers. Am I expecting to much from from the sound quality of creating my own digital copy of this in general???? Bit confussed by that question but if you ae asking if you can get good sound quality from ripping vinyl then yes. I've ripped some 12" that sound beautiful and some 7" that sound shite. A soundcard snatches whatever it hears.
