Proud_Jambo Posted 17 May 2005 Posted 17 May 2005 Now the season is over I was just wondering how you guys rate Levein. How did Maybury and DeVries do? What are your realsitic ambitions for next season. A word of warning Rab Douglas is awful, he used to be a brickie and he should probably have kept at it. Kisnorbo, isn't a great footballer either but he does a job, he will cover every blade of grass and will stop the opposotion from playing, just watch out when he gets the ball. Who else have you been linked with? I saw that you have Sylla on trial he's not bad probably gone a bit stale at Celtic. A new challenge might be what he needs, when he was playing in the SPL with St. Johnstone he was a good player. Hearts no longer have a manager, but we do have new owners . All the best Proud Jambo
Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 May 2005 Posted 17 May 2005 Maybury is top class. One of the best players in the team. de Vries has been pretty awful but we'll see what he's like with a proper pre-season behind him. Dreading Douglas but again, will give him the opportunity to prove he's cack for us as well as Celtic before getting on his back. Likewise Sylla and Kisnorbo. I want a play-off place next season but who knows? It's a time of change. Cheers for the good wishes. Back at you.
Shum Posted 17 May 2005 Posted 17 May 2005 Thanks for your wishes, same to you matey. Maybury has been a sensation in my eyes, our best full back for years. MDV - Pretty woeful so far, but as Fez of the Muzz said, we will see what he is like next year. Best signing has be Stephen Hughes! All the best.
Mark Posted 17 May 2005 Posted 17 May 2005 I rated Levein immensely yesterday. Today, i'm so unsure, and i never thought i would be. He's told us we're building for the future, that is evident, he's told us he's looking to improve the academy so more youngsters are in with a chance of making the grade, but he's let go one of the best youngsters at the club, he was the reserve team captain all last season, and now has pissed off because he can see he won't get a chance. He was offered a REDUCED contract!! Crazy, absolutely crazy, De Vries get's a 3 year contract, leave. Good luck to Stevie Dawson, i would have done the same, he's too good for us.
Louise Posted 17 May 2005 Posted 17 May 2005 Maybury is one of our best players, he's showed real class since he's been here. I don't like it when he's put on the left though, and sometimes he does get beaten too easily, but otherwise he's brilliant. De Vries I'm willing to wait-and-see about until he's had a pre-season under his belt. Levein is a straight talking, honest, sometimes funny, thoughtful man. He talks-the-talk about the club and the players, and seems to have the right idea about how things should be run. The football we have played under him has at times been superb, and other times a bit dull, but its hard when most of the players aren't his own and he's not had a pre-season to get certain ideas across. We've conceeded too many goals from set pieces, but we started scoring more goals as well. His signings so far have mostly been great (MDV the exception of course), with Stephen Hughes being my real shining light. I think Levein will come good for us and make our club run properly but I think it might take him a bit of time and it remains to be seen how much time some fans will give him. Realistic ambitions for this coming season I would say is a cautious top ten. Some will want a lot more (obviously I'd like more), but I'd be satisfied with seeing progress on and off the field for a serious push the season after. Obviously the target next season is still going to be promotion though...
step Posted 17 May 2005 Posted 17 May 2005 Mr Chainsaw I have to conceed, I am very disapointed that Dawson has left. We dont know the facts behind the decision so I dont think we should pass judgement on the right and wrongs about the move, but if city are so hard up that they cant afford to keep a youngster with his potential then things aint good.
