Guest Posted 20 June 2010 Posted 20 June 2010 Is football becoming a non-contact sport? Some of these decisions for fouls in the World Cup certainly make it seem so. It's all stop and start these days - no flow. And what about shirt pulling and holding at corners - doesn't seem anyone knows what is allowed including refs. Sure - everything can be called as a foul and it seems to be when it suits the ref - one reason why we are having so many low scoring games. I'd like to see people being allowed to play a lot more - fouls called for dangerous play and then bookings. More bookings for simulated fouls would be nice too.
shen Posted 20 June 2010 Posted 20 June 2010 Quite a few elbows flying around though. Has no place in football....
Guest Posted 20 June 2010 Posted 20 June 2010 I agree - but the elbows are from both sides - attack and defense - seems that's not the way they are penalised. And tall men seem to be penalised for them more than short men because when they jump their elbows are around the heads of the smaller men who jump into them.
Guest Posted 20 June 2010 Posted 20 June 2010 Would be nice if they at least booked them each and every time. It's far worse than a foul.
AyewJoking Posted 21 June 2010 Posted 21 June 2010 The officiating at a world cup is typically inconsistant to what we are used to at home. I blame the players, some Sunday league standard football is being played which ultimately results in players wrestling eachother for the ball thus the ref blowing for a foul. The ref plays a part in allowing a fluid game but so do the players.
