Personally I think we need more ego. More arrogant players are generally more confident and better to watch. We've been playing nice guy for far too long.

Team harmony is absolutely crucial for success. You can have all the talent in the world but if there is no coherence and understanding between the individuals and it's tainted by ego-centric arseholes then you won't have anywhere near as much chance of success than if you do all get along. That goes for any team sport or any team in any field of work.

And I'd rather have friends and be on minimum wage, than be talented and successful but all alone because I'm an arrogant twat.

I can see why you think that but personally I think it's just bad for the dressing room. If you have a few arrogant players at the club then it may cause unrest within the squad, i'd rather not risk something like that.
