davieG Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 Merc Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric says that up to four new players could be added to the squad in the next few weeks. The first of them could be Slovenian striker Leon Crncic later today. But Mandaric says manager Paulo Sousa's transfer business will have to be "sensible" – and that money "will not be thrown away". City's total debts as of May 31 last year stood at almost £26million, and Mandaric is personally underwriting that debt. The chairman warned: "We have to be sensible and make sure we don't waste the money." Sousa's only acquisition so far has been Portugal Under-21 international Miguel Vitor on a season-long loan deal from Benfica, although Crncic's arrival at the Walkers Stadium looks imminent. Mandaric said: "We are assembling a good team and we still have two, three or maybe four players to come on board during August. "There is obviously a need for investment in the players and he will get that money. "The manager is looking for certain players to buy but also players to bring in on loan or who are on frees. We have to make sure we don't waste it. We will not throw it away." City's targets will be at home and abroad. Mandaric added: "There are a lot of good players available in this country and overseas, so there is no reason why he (Sousa) is not able to bring in the two or three players he needs." Crncic arrived at the club this week and has been undergoing a medical. City were hoping to unveil the 20-year-old yesterday but they are awaiting results of a final scan. Crncic impressed Sousa when he trained with City during their week-long training camp in Slovenia. He also scored a goal in the friendly against his former club, NK Aluminiji. Last season, he was on loan at Italian club Atalanta and is now a free agent.
darko2k7 Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 Cheers ! Well at least we now know that we are signing some players the deepen the squad a bit
Collymore Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 "There are a lot of good players available in this country and overseas" He's narrowed it down to the whole world, well done Milan.
Steven Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 "There are a lot of good players available in this country and overseas" He's narrowed it down to the whole world, well done Milan. My scouts tell me there is some top drawer talent on Mars.

Collymore Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 My scouts tell me there is some top drawer talent on Mars. These guys? Who can remember them?
Mawsley Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 My contacts say we will be signing the Spanish U21 side tomorrow. They are currently in the clubshop being given commemorative keyrings and an old Tops Tiles sticker.
teblin Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 Someone on 606 reckons Pablo Counago will be playing for us tomorrow. Could be rubbish i know but sousa did try and sign him for swansea last summer. so he could be one of the 4.

My god, if Counago and Crcnic are uprfront, i am really not looking forward to the people behind us trying to pronounce their names

MPH Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 What's Kaebi up to these days? Banned from playing for the iranian national team and had his passport taken off him for taking part in some political protest, apprently
Blue Bob Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 I wonder if we can benefit from picking up some loans of players who are excluded from their clubs due to the premiership 25 man rule. Some clubs will have 10 or more players surplus, gotta be a few we could pick up who would add to the side?
andy_croydz Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 Why are we 26 million in debt? We havn't exactly splashed the cash in recent years and we don't have a massive squad. The season ticket sales are very good for a Championship club and the fan base is too. So how is that actually possible?

Because we took out a loan on a stadium that we could only afford to pay back if we were in the Premiership.
andy_croydz Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 Because we took out a loan on a stadium that we could only afford to pay back if we were in the Premiership. Don't we pay the loan off each month though for a set number of years? Say like 50k a month for 15+ years? If we were paying it off monthly then we would surely have payed nearly half of it off now. Maybe not though
Narborough_fox Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 I'm off to Fosse Park I'll se if I can spot any potential signings, it's not Morrisons but it will do!

Mawsley Posted 30 July 2010 Posted 30 July 2010 26 million?! How much of that is the stadium? Most of it was spent on Allen's flower baskets.

Maybe not though From my understanding, the payments are more than we can realistically afford unless we've got the monies available in the Premiership pouring in. So while we're paying off the stadium, it's causing us to get into debt elsewhere. We've basically got a mortgage we can't afford until we get into the Premiership. That's my understanding anyway.
