maddog Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 Last season QPR were playing like Brazil until we beat them 2-1 at Loftus Road. I think that result put doubts in their mind and thier season subsequently went down the pan. We then thrashed them 4-0 at the Walkers. We also beat Cardiff at home (in the League) in a very important match towards the back in of the season when we were both fighting for playoffs/promotion. There can be large crumbs of comfort taken from that. If we can beat Cardiff under that sort of pressure towards the end we can do 'em now. QPR wouldn't have forgot about that 2-1 result i don't think.
Foxhateram Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 Since the introduction of the transfer window it's become almost impossible to slowly change a team, with the greater use of loan players it's become inevitable that every close season we will see extensive changes to the team. As for being too quick some would argue that with the change of manager the inevitable rebuilding of the team, as a result of replacing loanees it has taken far too long and is still in progress. I'm sure Sousa would love to have a stable starting 11 but taking into account the circumstances that's not been possible and it's not really his fault and I'm sure the players are well aware by now of what he expects it's whether they are capable of delivering it. I see your point about the transfer window and the loan system. However we started the league brightly last season with players that are still here. Weale, Morrison, Hobbs, (admitted no brown), Berner Gallagher, Wellens, King, Dyer Fryatt, Howard All of whom are still at the club simple 4-4-2 where dyer can play slightly more of a free role on the left due to the stability of Berner at left back. Pearson's Loan players came in later on to add to sqaud depth and keep competition for places high in order to keep players on their toes and at there best. Why can't this team which have played together for two years already and played well together in the past, not be our starting 11 with the inclusion of a new CB. Vitor creates competition for CB, and Neilson remains competition for RB; Moussa creates competition for Gallagher and Dyer; Abe and Moreno create competition for the CM spots; Crncic (sp?) creates competition up front. I would now start Waggie over Howard but you get my point. The core of the team should be much the same as last year, then all this "players need time to gel" malarky would not be a problem. I stand by what i say about trying to change too quickly and shocking the system which was already working. Let me emphasize that I am by no means saying give Sousa the chop, i am just merely expressing my opinion regarding the mistakes that i feel he has made so far. Anyway lets just hope that things will seem a bit more settled now the window has shut and we can get down to doing our thing and quietly move our way up the table.
