Kilworthfox Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 Just heard an obscure rumour, but this has got me thinking about how the 25 man squads potentially will help Leicester to loan quality premiership players who have been cut from their respective clubs. Sun link The example I would give is that Bellamy went to cardiff on loan so that Man City do not have to pay his wages for the season, It looks like we may be in the market for a similar deal...?

I'm pretty sure Man City loaned him to Cardiff not so they didn't have to pay his wages (I'm pretty sure they're paying the majority of them), but to stop him going to a competitor for the European spots.

I am fairly sure that Cardiff said they were paying his wages in full!
Jackirius Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 I am fairly sure that Cardiff said they were paying his wages in full! Do you really think they are telling the truth? And there was a massive thread on this a while ago, when they released the squads.
Alexikokopops Posted 21 September 2010 Posted 21 September 2010 I am fairly sure that Cardiff said they were paying his wages in full! Reports say various things about the exact about, but it seems Man City are paying most, with one saying Cardiff are paying half It is thought that Manchester City will continue to pay the bulk of Bellamy's wages, but Cardiff's combined wage bill for their new recruits will still be significant. Manchester City, in another astonishing example of their financial largesse, have turned Bellamy's dream into reality by offering to cover the majority of his wages over the course of his season-long loan in south Wales. Exact figures have not been confirmed because of a confidentiality clause in the contract but there were suggestions tonight that City were paying as much as £75,000 of Bellamy's £95,000 weekly pay packet. Super-rich City will subsidise half of Bellamy's £90,000 weekly wage, with Cardiff expected to pick up the other half, despite the club being £15 million in debt. Jenkins insisted the loan deal, in which Manchester City continue to pay a proportion of Bellamy's £90,000-a-week wages, makes commercial sense for the cash-strapped Welsh club Bellamy was praised for his measured approach, but lest we forget he is still a City player so to burn bridges so immediately would be foolish, not to mention the fact that City are believed to be on the hook for 80% of his wages (he hasn't taken a cut to move to Cardiff). "Handing a striker of Bellamy's quality to Cardiff - and paying most of his wages - undermines the sanctity of the competition." The Bluebirds are believed to be paying £1m of Bellamy's wages, which are around £90,000-a-week, after the move was only made possible because of the Mancunians' willingness to subsidise the move after a deal taking the player to Tottenham Hotspur permanently could not be thrashed out.
