sphericalfox Posted 22 December 2010 Posted 22 December 2010 Right, I know I seem like I have loads of time on my hands, but today I do! I've written a small piece about the World Cup in 2022 in Qatar, and basically I'm asking if you think the change from Summer to Winter will be beneficial or detrimental to football in this country. Does it inevitably mean change forced upon us by FIFA and UEFA, as we'll need to prepare for this at some stage? Your thoughts? The article itself
JmorsonLCFC Posted 22 December 2010 Posted 22 December 2010 Umm, I agree with the point your making and I think it will be horrible coditions for the fans and players to cope with, but holding it in the winter wouln't be too good for the domestic season. No christmas fixtures and then also the players will come back from the world cup fatigued, it could take up to 2 months off the season!
Jon the Hat Posted 22 December 2010 Posted 22 December 2010 Qatar has plenty of time and money to build air-conditioned facilities. There is no need to move the timing to the Winter. It will be a TV world cup not a fans on the ground one, as the sole purpose of it is for Qatar to sell its brand.

I think Qatar have wasted there time in those designs, there's no way fans will be able to cope with 50 degree heat outside of the stadia. The population of Qatar exit stage left every summer. It's inevitable it's moving to Winter, if anything to annoy the English FA.
