if we do have £12 million to spend then sven needs to make sure he spends it on the right players and brings in what we need to push for promotion either this year or next.

I personally would spend this on fringe players in the prem, those who are frustrated at not getting a look in and that have a desire to play, these players may only be bottom half prem quality but in the same respect they would be just above the quality of championship level. We would get them abit cheaper so teams can get them off the wage bill. These types of players always put a good graft in every match as they have something to prove to the previous boss. Lets face it apart from the possability of knaughton no other player worthy of prem football is going to come here with the way we are playing at the minute. Svens proved with cunningham that he can pick out genuine young talent and i wouldnt be surprised if he picks up 1 or 2 unknown youngsters on the cheap (poss even cunningham?).

We know that we wont get promoted this season but to bring in quality from the lower regions of the prem now the team can start the process of gelling for next season and the factor of summer spending we may well have a side resembling lower prem status, who from the start are strong and consistant. Forget all these stories banding around jizzing your pants on who we are linked to and look at more likely candidates to do the business not only to get promoted next season but to also be a good foundation to keep us up as soon as we get there.

Macheda is also being offered to clubs on loan, but we would apparently be contending with Lazio and Roma for him

I think at the very least we have to replace those who are on their way out of the club/aren't good enough, so that's probably Fryatt, Morrison, Davies (loan expiry), Kirkland (loan expiry?) Lamey, Moreno, and Oakley. Granted, the latter 3 are wishful thinking, but that means we would need to replace them with:

-A goalscoring Striker

-A couple of Centre-Backs

-Back-up for Abe i.e. a CDM

-A Goalkeeper, either better back-up for Weale, or just, well, better.

The squad is going to look so different by the end of the window

We need to look in the "developing football countries" like most eastern european countries. Also Scandanavia.

All of these countries people swear blind that they are crap can really bring suprises.

I wouldnt bother looking in the youth system at the moment - They are either too young or not ready enough to bounce up to the first team.
