arch stanton Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 Weale (suddenly unreliable), Naughton (okay but suspect defensively) Vitor (forever injured) Tunchev (will he even play again?) Berner (seriously lacking match fitness and not likely to be here), Dyer (fine), King (Would help our defence but we'd losesome of his goals), Wellens (okay), Cunningham (Not really a winger), Waghorn (Debatable whether he would score enough goals. Too one-footed and wins little in the air) Howard (won't score enough goals) But you have highlighted what an incredible mess we're in! all i can say is with the massive squad we have mostly consisting of average or untried players, in an ideal world with everyone fit to play this 11 would be my first choice 11 although now with the sad news concerning cunningham i would say a winger has to be amongst the list of top requirements. only a settled team and not massive signings will give us the stability that we lack. only then can you seriously take stock of what you need to turn things around which is something i feel Sven has fallen foul of with constant tinkering.
Jax Demon Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 if i was the manager of lcfc in the premier with the thai consortium willing to pay out for success then i would be able to contact beckham and co . sven has bought vassell , he is crap and doesnt score goals . sven is now showing his talent , what talent ? the hard bit is getting out of this league , the premier attracts the best players , its not hard to win the premierleague the jack walker / abramovich way . sven is just not good enough in this league look at the results , AWFUL OVERALL !! Oh how hard I laughed at that highlighted part. Give Vassell time and with the right service he will get the goals. Don't underestimate his ability to score goals and his desire to do well in a Leicester City shirt.
Gazza M Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 This is certainly going to be a very testing time for Sven. There are so many issues around the squad currently and another one arrising today with the loss of Greg Cunningham. It is certainly a fine balancing act, keeping people happy as well as trying to improve the squad. We appear to be signing Sol Bamba and already have another loan signing in Ben Mee. Does that spell the end for Michael Morrison? Not necessarily so. It would not be great continuity for me to drop either Hobbs or Morrison for the Swansea game. They are in possesion of the shirts currently and did their jobs today. So lets carry it on. At left back I see Bruno Berner being the obvious choice to slot in there and Mee can also play there apparently. So there is no need to go and get anyone else in for me as we also have Tom Kennedy to recall in emergency. The other main issue is the formation. Are we going to carry on playing 4-3-3 or return to 4-4-2. Personally since Sven has arrived we have picked up 27 points from 16 games. That form over the course of a season would get you in the playoffs. So I see no reason to change that and I don't think we will. With that in mind I don't see Sven going for any more wide players this season and why not go for Vassell up front with Waghorn and Howard as options from the bench. We also have Danny N'Guessan back in the squad now and he again can be thrown up there if needs be or used as a wide player in a 3 pronged attack. On an outgoing front, I think we did the right thing cashing in on Matty Fryatt. I don't think he wanted to be at the club anymore and I'm not surprised he choose to work with Nigel again at Hull, a manager who he must have alot of respect for. I would be looking to spend the bulk of my January transfer kitty on Kyle Naughton. I think he would be available and we could get him for around 1.5m -2m. I would be looking to get rid of players such as Neilson, Moreno and Lamey. They are pretty much surplus in my eyes. I would also let Vitor go back to Benfica now we have the new lads coming in at the back. He isn't bad, but his injury problems make him unreliable and I would rather throw my weight behind Morrison.
