Jackirius Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Who is she? And you there aren't really any websites for cheap train tickets, you have to go directly to the company, you can get certain offers or split the journey or travel at certain times to lower the price.
Uncle Albert Posted 20 January 2011 Author Posted 20 January 2011 Alex Curran.. oh right cheers might take a trip to the train station and enquire. Can see it being pretty costly to Newcastle.
Haydos Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 <3 Alex Curran http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/? They sometimes offer cheaper than going with network rail, not by much though and not on a some lines

adam1 Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 One thing I have done before (going to exeter for the weekend - Plymouth away) was to change trains. The train from Birm went through Bristol to Exeter. But if I got off the train at Bristol, waited one hour, and got the following train I saved about £20-30. My pint and roast carvery cost me £4.50. And it was nice. For example: 11:20am train to exeter would cost £30. 12:20pm train to exeter cost £30. BUT 11:20am to Bristol cost £7. And getting on the 12:20pm train at Bristol to exeter cost £8. (obviously return as well so £30 saved). If you are going to Newcastle, look at any stations roughly halfway and have a play around.
AmericanScott Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Train line is the best website i've seen. Try split ticketing. Makes life cheaper

Also I'm pretty sure the train line charges a card fee which is a bit outrageous given that all the other sites don't... Yeah they only charge a quid if you use a debit card. Plus, you get a tidy reference number to pick up your tickets from the station at one of those machines. But i'll keep that Firstgreatwestern in mind for Sheff utd away
Unit Posted 21 January 2011 Posted 21 January 2011 We should all get in together and make on of them comparison websites for train tickets. (my idea i'm now CEO)
LcfcUCIAN Posted 21 January 2011 Posted 21 January 2011 we should make a footy fans trains site, and talk to the companies to get a discount if we buy so many and then sell em cheap to the travelling footy fans! (my idea so im CEO of that )

You get the same times, the same prices, and can still get the reference number, but you don't have to pay for using it. An added benefit is that sometimes they do 10% off on the train company websites.
