Shum Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 Just back from 5-a-side at goals, I was just about to receive the ball and decided to dummy and as I did a lad came through the back of me (got the ball) but I went over funny on my left leg and heard a massive crack. I was nearly crying (not from the pain) as I thought I would never play football again. The knee clicked back into place and it feels a bit sore, but I think I got away with that one. Will see how it is in the morning and if it''s stil bad will get it checked out. Very scary as I've never broke a bone in my body ever.
Anish Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 Sounds like you had a lucky escape mate, count your blessings!
Scow Posted 31 May 2005 Posted 31 May 2005 I'm sure you'll be fine, Shum. I remember doing something similar with my knee, but it turned out to be fine after initially being a little sore.
Shum Posted 31 May 2005 Author Posted 31 May 2005 Cheers peoples. Had ice on it for a while, but still very sore from Knee right down to ankle. Think I will get it checked out just incase.
Shum Posted 1 June 2005 Author Posted 1 June 2005 Well people, just back from the hospital...nothing to do with the knee! Torn Ankle Ligaments... no football for 4-6 weeks
Shum Posted 1 June 2005 Author Posted 1 June 2005 Cheers chuck. On another note, people slate the health service... but I was in and out of the hospital in less than an hour and had 2 x-rays so not that bad really.
Flemmish Posted 1 June 2005 Posted 1 June 2005 Oh dear, sounds excruciating (spelling ). Hope you get better soon
andy_croydz Posted 1 June 2005 Posted 1 June 2005 thats good service that is shum 2 hours in and out, i broke my wrist about 8 years ago and it took about 3 or 4 hours so not that bad. Gutted for you mate that you cant play football for 4-6 weeks because i know how much you like to play it every week nearly, but at least nowts broken and if it was a torn cruciate ligament u wouldave been ut for about 7 months so at least it wasnt that bad hope it gets better soon
Scow Posted 1 June 2005 Posted 1 June 2005 Sorry to hear that, Shum. Hopefully you'll be fine for the next kickabout.
Chimp Posted 2 June 2005 Posted 2 June 2005 Torn Ankle Ligaments... no football for 4-6 weeks 118053[/snapback] Damn, what a bummer. Make sure you let the ligaments heal properly before you play again.
Who ate all the pies? Posted 2 June 2005 Posted 2 June 2005 It's no fun! I did my knee ligaments in playing five-a-side. I was chasing a ball up when I realised I was about to not only go into the area, but also wipe the keeper out, I pulled up and my knee just gave up on me! Not the worst bit, I had to drive home (my mates still had two games to play)and it was my left knee, imagine the pain of changing gear on the 10 min drive back to my house. I did the same thing a year later playing eleven a side and I've never been the same since that's getting on to 6 years ago (still hurts even now). You were lucky, just take it easy for a week or so, don't push your luck!
Deathside Posted 2 June 2005 Posted 2 June 2005 Shum - Everyone knows that you are 1 day older than me - So I think it's time to face facts At our age we really should consider giving up this footy malarky
