lcfc_jme Posted 21 March 2011 Posted 21 March 2011 I've seen us play in between 2005 and 2008 (albeit not on a regular basis), yet cannot recall the obvious lack of EVERYTHING like today. In the recent past (before Sven) we had shit, cheap players, but even then, we tried to make something happen. We lacked the quality back then. Irrespective of the comparative quality in the side against Pompey and those between 2005 and 2008, there was NO way that was the worst home performance we've given in that time. Absolutely no way. The home game where Fryatt scored straight from kickoff and then we offered literally nothing before surrendering meekly and getting beat was worse. What about the absolute mullering by Sheffield Wednesday? Or perhaps the absolute tanking we got off Wolves in that same season? They were definitely worse than a game we'd have won were it not for extreme profligacy. I think we played Sunderland on New Year's Day that season and gave an absolute horror performance. I know for a fact that was worse than Pompey at home. By far. There must be more. Anyway, yes, we were poor on Saturday. But there were most definitely times during the period that you mentioned that a performance like Saturday's would have been an absolute godsend. Saturday just served to highlight the inconsistency in our side which indicate we're a thrown-together Championship team aiming to kick on and build next season.
