MikeyT Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Optimism is within me today. Comfortable 0-2 win for us. King getting back on track and scoring and i fancy Yak again today too.
MattyFromLE Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Weale, Van Aanholt, Oakley ©, King, Bruma, Naughton, Wellens, Yakubu, Bamba, Vassell, Kamara. What is Sven's fascination?
Thracian Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I can't see us winning today, We'll try to play as we did against QPR and may hold out to draw but I never see us having enough pace to play a hit-em-on-the break game. Nor do I ever see the logic in playing two from Abe/Wellens/Oakley as two of our central midfielders in a 4-3-3 because, despite Oakley's brilliant equaliser against Palace he hardly ever scores and neither do Wellens or Abe. With the strikers we have I wouldn't doubt we'll score one but conversely, with the defence we've got, we'll likely concede at least one as well. So, a draw is my choice. If we play King and Gallagher in midfield with one from Oakley, Wellens or Abe we have a greater goal threat at a time when we need to win games but Gallagher's inclusion in the centre will also make us weaker defensively, so I'd still say "draw". I also think we're suspect at full-back so even a narrow defeat wouldn't surprise me. There's still hope but to me we've wasted too many chances now and opponents know us well enough now to adapt the tactics to contain us .
