Next Season

Hi all

Don't panic, I'm back. I know you've been waiting with baited breath for my next post but put the sleeping pills away. I'm here. Step back from the edge, you have a reason to live again.

So, as always, I was playing CM0102 over the weekend (yes, I know, it's the best game ever created on any format along with the original Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Country) and for a change I selected Leicester. I like to start as a lower team usually and win the dream role as Leicester manager through merit. The finest achievement of my entire life is still taking Burton Albion to Premier League and Champions League success. Calm down ladies, there's enough of me to go round. Anyway, I selected Leicester and loaded up my classic 41221 formation and away we were. What struck me was how good our team was. Elliott, Taggart, Izzet, Sav, Walker, Flowers, etc. Even Trevor Benjamin was there and he is an absolute machine when played just behind the striker (Ladies, seriously, one at a time!). My usual MO is to get rid of all of my best players and replace them with a bunch of 14 year old Swedes and To Madeira upfront. However, mainly through nostalgia, I kept the Leicester Team of 01/02 and reveled as I watched them storm to the top of the league. As I said, it really struck how highly rated the players were. Not just in my blue tinted eyes but in the eyes of the programmers. We had a great team. I fantastic team. It took me back to my Uni days (is it really ten years?) going to both Filbert Street and the Walkers. I got a sense of wonder inside. A feeling I cannot hope to describe even with my Shakespearian genius. The closest I can get to describing it is "That Christmassy feeling". "What are you raving on about you strange and insane idiot?" I hear you cry. Well, I remember the wave of excitement at being a Leicester fan in those days and that perfect day when we beat Sunderland with Collymore scoring a hat trick. "We're finally there" I remember saying to my uninterested companion (A Liverpool fan who had just come "for a day out"). Even he was amazed by the quality we showed that day. "I wouldn't mind seeing that Heskey at Anfield" he said and probably later regretted). I genuinely thought we could do it. I had visions of Europe and top five finishes and all was good with the world. I felt better than Scrooge on his redemption. (I wont talk about what happened after this as I am in an optimistic mood).

Why am I saying this? Well, I am starting to feel a bit like this now. A little excited. A little fuzzy inside. Is that "that Christmassy feeling" I can sense? I am disappointed as I am sure we all are about how this season has ended but I feel like next season could be "it" again. The negativity on here is excruciatingly inane and I cannot even bare to read most of the posts. Lets get behind this side. Lets dare to dream. Lets get excited about every rumour no matter how ridiculous or how untrue. Let's realise that the Yak is the best striker we've had here since Heskey. Let's praise King for the undoubted talent he is. Let's stop this incessant moaning and finger pointing. Lets step back, look at the season and say "Wow, Sven actually did really well and I cannot wait to see what he can do next season". Let's dream of silencing the Rams next season and cutting down the Trees. Think of Claridge's shin and rejoice in it's awkwardness. Think of Ian Marshall smoking on the treatment table then rolling off it for the last ten minutes and scoring a beauty. Let's imagine (one of my favourite ever fantasies) Taggart scoring a perfectly executed overhead kick then running the length of the pitch, taking out every member of the opposition and then flying away like Superman never to be seen again. Let's remember these things but not get stuck on the past or the MON era. It can happen again. It WILL happen again. Come on you ****ing beauties! I love every single last one of you!

PS - "As long as the team, like, yer know run about like mental wabbehs I'll be happy. None of these lazeh twats who just do nothing but score one goal every two games and set one up every four games".

Strange, but nicely written. Refreshing to read some genuine excitement and optimism.

I think we do have good reason to be excited about next season. Everything is in place and I'm confident Svennis will deliver.

This is the funniest post I have ever seen. Whoever wrote this should be given a medal. X

PS He sounds like he's probably handsome too.
