DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Thracian , my dad loved the Doog and forever went on about that there must have been a reason city sold him.....can you throw any light on it ? The "Doog" was also my personal favourite. He was superb, and his work rate was awesome. I remember Matt Gillies bringing him to Leicester, in 1964, I believe, after his career had taken a turn for the worst. In no time at all, he was back at his best, and playing for Northern Ireland again. He was the idol of the Kop, at Filbert Street, and the deafening roar of, " Doog,Doog, Doog ", must have echoed through the City centre. With his foot, or with his head, he could find the net. I remember being shocked, and gutted, when we sold him to Wolves. I have never known the reason for his departure though. and to this da y remain puzzled. I can remember walking past a gate, on my way to the ground, and on it was a sign, that read, "Beware of the Doog". It made me laugh, but oh boy, how true it was..DOOG! :chant:
