bmt Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Hi all, I passed my test 2 years ago and also have 2 years motorcycle no claims but have never got insured on a car because of the price. Anyway, I'm working for 6 weeks until uni and am therefore looking for short term car insurance. Does anybody have any idea who would be best to go to/the best way to approach this? It's a 53 plate rover streetwise.

Last year after i finished my first year at uni i got insured on my dads X-reg Mondeo for 2 months and it cost around £300 extra to his insurance, however we tried to get me on his insurance again this year and could not as the insurer said that I could be classed as one of the main drivers, as many parents put their children on the insurance as a named driver. I know that sounds confussing but they wouldn't insure me. Sorry to put a downer on this but you might not get insured, but I do hope that you do as it sucks relying on buses and the like. Edit: Best thing to do is ring your insurer direct and check to see what they say. Good luck with it
