Leicester City FC A-Level Art

After reading this for four pages I should probably invoke my right of reply by now... lol But I've never had a post with so many rep points, so hey :D

For the record, not that it matters, people are entitled to study whatever they wish as there is enough diversity in this world for anyone to succeed in an area that they are passionate in.

And if anyone thinks that this is me backtracking, well I studied mathematics, history and IT at A Level where there are exams and you can be right or wrong. Art? Art you create something (maybe under timed conditions equivalent to an exam? But this wasn't the impression I got from the people who I spoke to in my tutor group who took design subjects) but surely in art your grade depends on what your teacher thinks of it, so surely external factors can influence your mark based on your relationship with them, instead of wholly on the piece itself.

But that's far too sensible to post on FoxesTalk, who'd react to that? :giggle: You should also take into context the last thread on education in Gen Chat and how the discussion went on there.

You made some fair points and I can understand why people might think that if you haven't studied Art (or Design) but from my experience of studying Art at College and Design at an Arts Institute, its not so much based on your relationship with your tutor or their interpretation to a certain extent, you have to be able to justify and explain every single decision you've made throughout the entire process of your work. Believe me it isn't easy, it isn't something you can really blag on the spot either when you've got to stand in a lecture theatre whilst your work is being critiqued. You can have months worth of work ripped to shreds in a matter of minutes if you haven't put the work in beforehand and come up with a solid concept. Thankfully I never had to experience that but I've seen it happen many times and it looks absolutely excruciating.

Some people might think its a bit of a do nothing subject but if you get to a high enough level its unbelievably stressful.
