Pretty much, it's a massive thing over there to be a 1st round superdraft pick. Most of them go on to be top sportsman.

If Banton was only a 2nd round pick in the supplemental draft pick no one could have been too impressed in the workouts.

If you want to put it in the simplest terms then yes.

Basically sports work differently over here. There is no youth system as such. Then emphasis is on both High school and College sports. Here you go to High School until your 18 and then go on to College for usually around 4 years. College sports are absolutely massive over here, in some sports like Basketball and American Football the college games are more popular than the pro sports. The eligibility terms for each sport are different but plainly speaking, every year the best of the college athletes of that year are put into a draft pool. Then each team takes turns at picking a player they want to sign. The draft order is basically decided by the worst team from the previous season picking first, then the next worse and the next and so on. Its aimed at creating parity with the worst teams always having the chance to pick the best youngsters coming through rather than just the team with the most money singing everybody.

Hope that explains it well enough.

The Seattle Sounders don't know what they've let themselves in for jesus he was homesick in Leicester now he's in SEATTLE! WTF?

Yeah i made that comment way back in this thread when he first said he was trying out for the MLS, ya gotta laugh. Its like Tevez being homesick for his family in Argentina then trying to sign for Milan. lol
