Yes for christ sake he is 18 an adult! many of our 18 year olds are fighting in Afghanistan and losing their lives. Where as this twat sits around feeling sorry for his self and missing his mummy.

You do realise not everyone is the same? Just because x can deal with something doesn't mean y can.

I'm starting to get really ****ing fed up of hearing everybody attribute everything to depression.

It's amazing how many diagnosticians we have who can psych-evaluate someone without even meeting them.

Have you actually read any of his tweets? As someone who has suffered from depression, had close persons who have/do suffer from depression and worked amongst those suffering such severe depression they have been unfortunate to have to enter mental health facilities for treatment, I find your remarks both insulting, and insensitive. Now Finners I know your an educated person so making such generalisations, you should know better.

As for the 'pick-your-self-up' brigade, and specifically flowolf I'm not going to engage with you as I put you on ignore, and I don't have to say anything other than I'll let your post stand for what it is.

I have actually tried to contact members of the backroom staff to highlight Banton's tweets, as actually one of them was very alarming, sadly I wasn't able to. I hope the club make efforts to either look after him, or move him somewhere where he can find happiness.

I find his tweets very bizarre, he's clearly not the full ticket. I have spoken to an Arsenal fan who said this kid had as much talent in the youth teams as Wilshere, Frimpong and Gibbs. But he's just not achieving anything due to unknown reasons, people put it down to a bad attitude but perhaps he is mentally ill. If so, I hope our club recognise this and help him, instead of fooking him off because he might seem like an arrogant wannabe gangsta.

The lads not just talking about leaving our club, he talks about quitting football altogether. Seems like just because he's an 18 year old lad on twitter, doesn't seem happy, that all of a sudden he deserves to take a slating. I understand airing your issues on twitter isn't the correct way to go about it, but maybe he's just not aware of how to deal with it properly, believe it or not we do all respond to certain situations differently.

Not all depressives are likeable people. I went to college a long time ago, and there was a guy on my course who was a class A douche of the highest order, and received abuse from people in the class for his extremely bad attitude and way he went about talking to people. So when we received an announcement one Monday that he had gone to Beachy Head and made a final decision, it made me put things in perspective, and I guess regardless of external appearances, the young lad experiencing deep emotional issues, and was sadly immensely depressive. Looking at the signs underneath all that, even though I did try to be amiable to him he was unreceptive.

So in a roundabout way, I'm thinking those who are making conclusions about this lad, don't know anything about his personal history, his family life, or taking into account his career path, and maybe he hasn't had the right coaching or recognition of something he might be suffering from.

I just don't think people should be so dismissive, with he has a bad attitude - screw him, we don't need his type here. If the club have tried to help him and he's not accepting help, and they've done their best fair enough, but some depressives have a tendency not to show their weakness to those around them and put on a bravado face. I don't know if this is the case. I don't hang around the club, don't know anyone in the club.

But if this lad needs help then I hope the club recognise it and do something about one way or the other.

I think as a club and team we have more important issues on our hands than listening to a tit named Jason Banton who just seems to cause trouble wherever he's gone and he's only 18. He has been at a hell of alot of clubs for an 18 year old and they've all let him go.......i think that says it all

why don't you grow the fvck up and try learning about what you're talking about first.

As has been said, some of his tweets do suggest possible underlying tones of depression - not all of us can just bottle that up and put on a happy face, some really struggle with it and need family & friends by their side to help them - he's away from his family and by the sounds of things none of the squad have really made an effort to be friendly with him.

If he does have depression and that is the case then do you really expect him to not feel sorry for himself even the slightest bit?

I haven't read his tweets, but I believe that depression is a very difficult thing to tackle. And as someone else said, people differ in how they can cope with difficulties; 18 is no age at all. I hope that the club can give him the help he needs. If they can turn him round and realise his talents, where other clubs have failed, they will reap the benefit.

Maybe, just maybe, he's ****ing shit.

Maybe, just maybe, he's not depressed, he's just a moody teenager with an attitude problem.

In short, **** him. We'll sign someone ten times the player in January, and then when they dont perform like Maradona for 95 minutes of their first game, about a dozen threads can start on here about how lazy, waste of money, not as good as a player we've sold etc etc etc and they will inevitably lose form, go elsewhere and be a ****ing world beater and Stringer can continuously mention their names in commentary when we're doing shit and the new team are doing well.

OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH SYNICAL!!!!!!

I respect what you're saying, as you have suffered from depresion yourself etc, but isnt it a bit hypocritcal to tell other people they cant judge or say anything about him because they dont know his personal background etc, then you go and judge and say things about him, saying hes depressed. Not having a pop at you, just saying...pot..kettle...black.

I would be a little surprised IF he was found to be suffering from depression though. ou would think that at least one of the clubs he has been would have spotted it, especially so at Arsenal, with one of the best youth setups around. Purely because of that, Im being a touch sceptical about the depression thing.

I should have used the word 'likely depressed' as of course I am surmising from his online behaviour having seen this behaviour many times before. I never said the reason why he was shipped off from his other clubs due to depression, that would be daft. I'd say that it would be a contributing factor if I was in his boots.

At the end of the day those calling him names and saying he should pish off are remarkable human beings. The world needs more of your type of caring and responsive individuals.

Said tonight "I'm defo leaving in January not getting a chance & I'm not the only one"

"not having a reserve league has killed young pro's and at least Sven had us involved more"

"they want bodies out the building I ain't the only 1"

By that logic all the reserve team players we have on the books will all go and the fringe first team players so probs 8 in total?

I'm not just educated, I'm experienced. In however many thousand posts on FT I've never, ever felt the need to air my dirty laundry in public but you're not the only one with an understanding of mental health.

I'm not making generalisations at all, in fact I'm doing the complete opposite and it's you that should know better. I actually did read his twitter to see what all the fuss was about and, actually, like bettso I thought it was perfectly likely he was just an angst-ridden teenager having a vent. People are all too quick to forget that that's actually what a lot of footballers are - kids.

You can't make a diagnosis of someone you've never met and it's not particularly helpful to do so either.

I'm not just educated but I'm modest too.

My big issue is that afair few people on here haven't read his tweets yet have made assumptions about him. I'm not saying he's not a grumpy teenager, I just am of the opinion that there's likely more to it too.
