Milton Keynes Fox Posted 10 February 2012 Posted 10 February 2012 Please would you all help me in signing this. http://www.change.org/petitions/the-football-league-increase-5-subs-to-7-subs-in-league-games-extra-2-being-academy-players "At the moment football league clubs are being minimised to five subs per a game, this meaning that younger academy players are having less chance to prove themselves in the real game and having to rely on reserve games and academy games to make an impact. This petition is standing against the 5 sub rule and wanting the football league to increase the 5 subs to 7 subs but 2 of the 7 subs HAVE to be academy players, this means that we will have more younger players coming through clubs and getting a chance and thus more talent being created in England. I hope you can sign and join my petition, thanks."
Webbo Posted 10 February 2012 Posted 10 February 2012 I'd guess that the reduction to five was done as a cost saving measure, which is important to the smaller clubs. If you're not good enough to be one of five subs you're unlikely to get a game anyway.

I can't see there being a significant cost involved if you have the players at the club, a compromise would be a Min 5 Max 7. If anyone thinks that's considered unfair well the whole bloody football set up is unfair so it's hardly going to make a difference. Having said that a poll seems pretty pointless when it was the clubs that voted for it.
gazfox9 Posted 10 February 2012 Posted 10 February 2012 Seems a good idea. Fact is, the acadamy lads will be paid whether on the bench or not, so it wouldn't hurt to have a couple on the bench. If made optional, fair enough. Leave it for the clus to decide.
