The More Things Change...The More They Stay the Same

The first thing that popped into my mind was how gutted the Wellens and King haters would be following on from our defeat against West Ham, and the substitutions of the fore-named.

It seems to me that should Pearson want to offload them, and I think this doubtful. Unless of course they want to. The recurrence of King's injury puts a serious kibosh to any potential transfer. Wellens injury is serious enough at any stage of a season, but at his age, I'd be surprised if he'll get back to light training before the summer's end. If you were seeking to sell, then it seems to me you'd struggle to sell to a League One team with his wages, unless one of the promoted teams wanted to take a serious risk.

I've seen that Howard has intimated that he has come 'to the end of an era', or something like that on his twitter. I think that it's no surprise to anyone, and for me whilst he has not been at the races for the last two seasons, he has provided nothing but 100 hundred percent whilst being at the club, and can't be faulted even if he has limitations to his game. He did as he was told, and played to his strengths, what more can you ask from a player?

I suppose the big question falls on Pearson's door about our defense. Which of our CB pairing did he rate the most? With the FFP, does that affect his decision? (obviously Mills will be on the list - however how we'll sell him will be beyond me! Maybe Wolves will take a punt, or one of the other fallen clubs)

I noted that Pearson has stated that he will be making additions but the team will remain mostly the same and that the budget wouldn't be the same as last season. I think the budget will be the same, but we're not posting it on the Clock Tower with our pants down this summer.

The players we will bring in will be young players who won't demand bank busting salaries, but we'll probably end up spending about 6-8 million this summer methinks. If you divide it by the four players that i think we need, then that's 2m per player, with hopefully a pound or two back from our outgoings, all in the end the hope of some balance in the team, and bite that we've been missing.

All lot of fans have had forgotten that we've spent a considerable amount of money on bringing together a formidable youth team. I don't have their stats to hand, maybe someone can provide them, but they've been brushing aside some quality sides with great ease.

Some of our youth have had the opportunity to go off and get some broader experience, and next year some will probably go out again, but once again we've bought our way into the Class A pool of young lads, and I think we'll delve into this over the summer to strengthen even further, with the prospect of quality coming through the ranks, and if we are unlucky/lucky we'll have a couple poached for considerable amounts, putting it back into the coffers.

I think there's some positivity to be had in Pearson's approach, and building on the positive aspects of what Sven did for the club, and putting behind us the aspects that didn't work. Everyone has their opinion on what these are, but dwelling on the negatives will get our club nowhere. Pearson proved that this direction will prove positive, we just have to wait over an anxious summer.

I don't agree with every aspect of what Pearson does, but I will be giving him time.

It amazes me that when Sven was here in the first year, he got almost the exact vitriol. You could literally change the names, but swap the posters. I then got accused of Pearson hate and Sven love, because that's of course the easiest way of lambasting something. Pigeonhole it. It feels much more comfortable that way.

I have faith that we'll see a transformation over the summer. It won't be spectacular, but it'll soon turn consistant. It won't be always be pretty, but it'll bring us results. I'm sure I'll address the season when we know who's in what league in my crappy bloggins, and end up with egg on my face, or accusations of shit on my nose, but hey-ho, that's the interwebs!

UP THE FOXES! :scarf:
