Surely in training you would have shadow boxed with dumbells or wrist weights then taken them off to spar? Hand speed increases dramatically. I never did, I think it's an old fashiond method now, the reason I saw people using that method was more to hold hands up for the duration of rounds. I can't imagine the strain that would put on the arms tbh, Mike Tyson's main focus in training for power was the heavy bag. So was Dempsey, Foreman, etc etc, I could never see what you got from weights on that you wouldn't get from hitting a heavy bag instead. Weighted gloves maybe.
