Guor Marial: "An Olympian without a country"

Sure, the Olympics and the IOC are plagued by commercialism and corruption. But in every Olympiad, there are always athletes whose life stories can inspire even the most cynical among us.

Case in point: South Sudanese marathoner Guor Marial, who will compete under the Olympic flag in London.

I highly doubt Marial will make it to the podium. But I also highly doubt Marial could have even imagined making it to the crown jewel of events at the Olympic games when he was in a child labor camp as an eight-year-old.

I'm definitely looking out for Marial on August 12.

nice end to a tough life. hopefully he may get another chance to run for south sudan at the next olympics. will keep my eye out for him.
