Deathside Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 I originally posted this as part of the What are you listening to now thread Because that thread is so heavilly used I have reposted here in a brand new thread.. I'm now listening to Dag Nasty - Can I Say This is their first album and it's still an absolute classic - A bit mellower than my normal listening but still very powerful Dag Nasty may well appeal to a few people on here (Mr Chainsaw & Scowy spring to mind) Background: Dag Nasty were formed by former Minor Threat bass player (and current Bad Religion guitarist) Brian Baker The band were a kind of release for Brian from the constraints of Ian MacKaye in so far as he was tarred with the straightedge brush but this wasn't the real him (Minor Threat was undoubtedly Ian MacKaye's band Dag Nasty happened at a time when a new wave of American hardcore was hitting a peak but they really stood out from the rest and were also one of the first bands from a Punk background who weren't afraid to sing about feelings & emotions Unfortunetly they never really came near to bettering the first album (maybe the All Ages Show EP came close) Can I Say was reissued on CD combined with the second album (Wig Out At Denkos) If you lay hands on it (or d/load) you can really hear the difference Anyways - If you are familiar with Dag Nasty let me know what you think of them also if you are inspired to obtain some and give it a listen let me know what you think Just found these Dag Nasty album reviews and am pleased how much they mirror what I just said Dag Nasty album reviews 139901[/snapback]
Mark Posted 21 July 2005 Posted 21 July 2005 I can't say I've listened to them much or know a lot about them... but I do like the song "Ghosts" though, it's off one of their newer albums Minority of One.
